Flip flopper. :lmfao:

Not sure what the hell has happened to this guy the last 3-4 years. Hasn't been pretty. Just no desire to read him anymore, which is sad. Went out of my way to do so when he was at the ABJ.

Me either. Between him skanking story ideas and info from Pauly C to his general laziness in his columns I think he's hit a huge wall.

Another dinosaur.

There's a Joe Pa or a Josh Cribbs mailing it in after he got his contract extension joke here somewhere ...

I don't mind Pluto. Maybe because I never remember reading him way back when. He's OK though.

If you want to talk about an old guy who lost his fastball...Rick Reilly. His shit has been absolutely awful for a few years now. What the hell happened to that guy? Was he always this bad and I didn't know it? He's not funny. He's not clever. He's not interesting or insightful.

I don't know what the hell he is.

ESPN.

I used to love reading his stuff at SI. He's a joke now.

Reilly was an amazing feature story writer. Then he tried to become a columnist. It didn't work, to say the least. Tiny bits of schmaltzy humor are welcome in an otherwise dense work like a longform feature. When it becomes the only thing in the story, it's awful.

Pluto is what Pluto is. I think people deified newspaper writers 30 years ago. Now I think they go out of their way to rip them a new asshole.

There's got to be a happy medium. I don't want the snark of online writing all the time and I don't want the old-timey flatness of newspapers 24-7. Only a select few have found the medium ground...Posnanski chiefly.

90 percent of online writers suck and don't fact check. 90 percent of newspaper writers just don't care anymore and just like to bitch at new media.

I think both should shut the hell up and start producing better stuff.

Pluto has written some excellent books. One book worth reading is "48 Minutes" that was written in the mid-80's. Great read on the makeup of the Cavs team right after the drafting of Daughtery, Price, and Harper. Makes me even more furious that the Cavs ever traded Harper.

With regards to Pluto's recent columns, I agree they have declined in recent years. I shook my head when I saw the 46 win prediction, as well as the prediction "this team will hit" about last year's tribe. LOL

Really good book writer, really lazy sports writer. Doubt he's been in a locker room in a decade.

He is god's fav sports writer though

A while back Joe Pos was talking about compiling a list of great sports books and asking for suggestions. Loose Balls was mentioned multiple times. I haven't read it but it's now on my list.
