With a 60-55 victory at Louisiana (formerly Louisiana-Lafayette) yesterday, Cleveland State (5-0) is off to its best start in school history. The win was also coach Waters' 250th career victory.

The Vikes next game is at Akron on Wednesday (7 p.m.). The game will be televised live by STO.

There have been some very good teams at CSU in the 80's, and none of them started 5-0. The victories over Kent and Iona are very good wins. Now they play three more very solid mid major teams in a row with the trip to Akron and then St. Bonnies and Robert Morris at home.

I'm excited about this team. The Akron game should be fun.

CSU now 6-0 after a good win at Akron. St. Bonnies and Robert Morris in town Saturday and Monday.

Norris Cole is turning himself into an NBA prospect as the Vikings point guard. He may be a better player than Cedric Jackson was and he's definitely a better shooter.

Plus he threw down a left handed (he's a righty) dunk over 7 foot Zeke Marshall of Akron (Cole is 6-2).

CSU is a top 25 RPI team right now. Very solid mid major wins over Kent, Akron, Iona, St. Bonnies and Robert Morris. At least three of those teams could very well end up in the big dance.

Next comes two conference games at Green Bay and Milwaukee. The Vikes haven't won in Wisconsin under Waters. Now is the time to break that streak. It will be good to get this trip out of the way. Hopefully CSU can get at least a split out of this one.

Fox Sports Ohio has picked up Saturday's Cleveland State-West Virginia game.

Watch the Undefeated Cleveland State Vikings Take on the West Virginia Mountaineers Exclusively on FOX Sports Ohio

FOX Sports Ohio is excited to televise the unbeaten Cleveland State Vikings men’s basketball team this Saturday, December 18 at 2pm when they travel to Morgantown, West Virginia to face the Mountaineers, their toughest opponent to date.

Cleveland State leads the Horizon League and improved to 12-0 following last Saturday’s 74-62 victory over Sam Houston State. Trey Harmon scored a season-high 20 points, Norris Cole added 19 and the Vikings made at least 10 three-pointers for the fourth straight game. The win made CSU the first Division I team in the nation to win 12 games this year, receiving top mentions in both major basketball polls. The record now matches the third-longest win streak in CSU history (12-game streak in 1986-87) and trails the 14 straight wins in both 1985-86 and 1992-93.

The Big East’s leader West Virginia, which went to the NCAA Final Four last year with a 31-7 record, is off to a 7-2 start and is ahead of Cleveland State in both major college basketball polls.

The Mountaineers overcame an 11-point halftime deficit to slip past Duquesne 64-61 this past Sunday night in Pittsburgh. They return home, where they are 4-0 this season, to take on the Vikings this Saturday.

Last year, West Virginia needed a last second shot by Da’Sean Butler to knock off the Vikings in Cleveland. Watch FOX Sports Ohio this Saturday at 2pm for what will be an exciting rematch.

Both Valparaiso and Butler lost on Sunday. Cleveland State is now tied with Valpo for first-place, both are 7-2 in the Horizon League.

Butler and Wright State are tied for third at 6-3, one game back.

GO VIKES!!!
