OSU vs. PSU game thread

Unread postby furls » Sat Nov 13, 2010 4:37 pm

Well, I am back for what is probably my last OSU game of this season....

GO BUCKS
Coming from a Wolverine, we're the football equivalent of a formerly abused wife of a meth addict who just remarried the safe nice guy. We're just glad we have someone who's aware that it's a rivalry and that tackling on defense is integral. Baby steps.

Nice job there by JB "The Drive Killer" Shugarts. Man those false starts hurt. 2&4 to a punt.

The Buckeyes look flat and uninspired.

To say the least.

They better wake the fuck up quickly.

And maybe the corners could give another bus width worth of cushion to the PSU receivers too.

They're being embarrassed.

Brent Musburger is one of the best commentators around. I'm really impressed by his ability to speak so clearly with McGloin's cock in his mouth.

One of those games where everything seems to be going wrong. But the Buckeyes started that process with their umpteenth shitty possession in the red zone early.

That defense is pretty vanilla especially if you are facing a green QB.

Boom playing well. Pryor really showed a burst there on that first zone read. I hate when Saine is the option on that play.

Need Pryor's legs here.

Re: Continuity.

Sometimes when I watch the offense it seems like they are running pass/run plays simply for the sake of balance or something. I really feel like there are times that the just flush possessions down the toilet with some non-sensical play calling.

This last possession, the Buckeyes did a nice job of mixing running plays to keep PSU off balance, including that read option that was run 2X for about 30 yards of the drive. It was a nice mix of inside and outside running. It was the first time I felt like there was an actual gameplan on offense.

Let's see if they decide to tighten up the coverage on the WRs and run some blitzes on this QB. Personally, I think they should blitz Gant on every down. He is out of position on most plays anyways, so he might as well do something useful.

Herbie struggling the last 5 min. First he didn't realize Boom picked up the 1st down back inside the 20 saying OSU would punt. Then the kid who got hurt he didn't think the crushing block on Newsome could have hurt him? That was a violent collision. Probably a collar bone.

OT Question: Is Brett Bielema the biggest asshole in college football or just the Big10? 83 effing points? That was necessary? That cocksucker needs to humbled. 'Bout ready to hope it's by some dread disease.

Pryor is a stud...

When is the light going to truly go on for him?
I understand he doesn't have the greatest receivers around him (certainly no one would compare any of them to Holmes/Gonzalez)... but still, he supposedly has so much talent.. he should be able to elevate the play of everyone around him, no?

ugh...

Also, someone should tell Tressell that it isn't against the rules to pass on 1st down.. just for something different...

I don't know, I haven't been to the shoe in a while, but if they moved the Bucks bench underground in the middle of the field, then yes, McGloin did stare it down on his way off the field.

Someone wake up Joe, and tell him the second half didn't go quite as well.

And listen douchbag McCloin, having a good game against Michigan doesn't even count. Christ, they had trouble with the UMASS QB. Have a nice 3 plus years in the back-up roll. That staring act was as bad as Florida's KICKER last week.

The literal answer is Iowa. ANd it's going to be more difficut after Northwestern beat them and got them re-focused yesterday.

Better not go in flat against a physical team again. They'll get the same result as Wisconsin regardless of Stanzi being an INT machine. If Stanzi isn't forced to throw he won't.

Honestly, Boom has impressed me all season long.

He's not just tough anymore, he really has gotten better. So weird, because he might be the most improved tailback I've ever seen.

Its just not really a position where you progress, if that makes any sense. His vision and cutbacks and stiffarm, all these are things he developed over time here.

Color me impressed, he is really growing on me.

I have basically nothing else good to say unless its about the Oline, Boom or Boren.

This was one of the worst passing performances from Pryor I've seen this season. He's a huge reason, maybe even the reason that this game didn't feel good. he missed open receiver all over the field, he got lucky on the long play when he didn't have to (had he threw to Sanz in the first place it would have been a righteous TD rather than lucky)...

Whatever, take me to next week.

Tress needs to take a serious step back and study what he can do differently during bye weeks. Iowa would have choked us out this week the way we came out.

Luckily we were playing one of the worst PSU teams you'll see.

JCoz I agree 100%, he has turned me around 180 degrees. I liked him but not as our main back (when the season started) but he has improved and IMO I think he is even a bit faster than he was last year and early this season.

I'd agree with it being his worst performance, but after watching the replay of that tipped TD it looked like that ball hit Posey clean in the hands and he just whiffed. Then again maybe I didn't get enough of a good look on the 19 inch standard def TV we had goin at Buckeye Lake.....

And early in the game he overthrew a screen pass by about 15 yards, and I thank the dark lord Kromdor that he did, cuz that back was gonna get crushed. As a result of that late in the 2nd Q he threw a floater screen to Boom who had to save it from hitting the ground and probably didn't get the 1st down because of it. He just tries to get to fancy with the ball. Just wing it in there, young son!

And Matt McGloin is a total douche who got lucky Torrence missed him by a whisker on that 2nd TD pass, if DeVon gets there that ball is out and probably going for 6 the other way.
