Anyone know shit about it? Anyone care?

Just moved into a 1960's multilevel I really love for a lot of reasons, but it is NOT coax friendly.

Can this operate off a wireless router if you buy the sony built in tv? Will ask the right sources but curious if anyone is an early adopter out there.

This looks like something you add on to your existing cable/satellite. There have been things like this for the past few years, slowly getting more and more advanced. A lot of the TVs and Blue Ray players have had limited web functionality. The end goal is that your tv should have all the functionality of a computer. This looks like the closest yet, but not quite there. I have a Samsung Blue Ray player that has a wireless hookup, but only has Youtube, Pandora, Netflix, and Blockbuster. It's nice, but would be better with a keyboard, which GoogleTV has.

Definitely can operate wirelessly. You can also get it built into a new Sony TV or Blue Ray player if you already have a tv, or just a standalone Logitech box if you already have both.

Isn't this all just WebTV 2.0, except a rare case where the sequel is better than the original?

Depends on yr view of the potential of apps and how you foresee the future of cable and dish providers when distribution channels now become as obsolete as CD's.

I think this could be a game changer.

Everything is going to be coming over your internet connection soon enough; it remains to be seen how that changes the distribution. The biggest thing will be competition; no more 1 cable company and a few satellites available in any given area; companies won't have to pander to every consumer and will be able to offer far more tailored packages. But I still think we will see "channels" bundled in some manner, rather than a la carte. Who knows?
