OSU vs. Wisconsin

I started the thread early today because I am going to be in NYC for most of the day (taking my 7 year old shopping for her birthday) tomorrow, I hope to be back in time for kickoff.

Test #2 for the Bucks this season.

All week I have heard Jesse Palmer say that this Wisconsin team is built to play the Buckeyes, that at least to him it is a troubling match up for the Bucks. I tend to disagree, I think the Buckeyes are perfectly constructed to beat Wisconsin. I don't think there is another team in the country that can play the run like the Buckeyes. Biggest concern for me on the defensive side is the Badgers TE. The Bucks have a tendency to leave the LBs overmatched with TEs, and I think that is going to be problematic for the Bucks tomorrow, but I don't think it is enough to beat the Bucks.

I think the Horizontal passing game and TPs speed will be plenty to move the ball against the Badgers and I think Pryor is a big game guy who will step up in this game. I like the Bucks 31-17.

Wisconsin is well suited to beat the Buckeyes. Best way to keep TP from hurting you is to keep him off the field. I think Wisky is top 3 in TOP. Big up front, good backs, adequate passing. They can beat the Bucks the same way they beat SEC teams in bowl games, take the air out of the ball on O, don't give up the big play on D. And it's at home. Scariest game of the year in my opinion.

I lean with Erie on this game, IMO if Wisky avoids unforced TO's they can keep this tight all night. IMO though Bollman's improved use of talent as this season goes on will win out. I see a late FG, last 3-4 minutes, giving OSU a 7-8 pt victory. 27-19ish.

The TOP deal is predicated on the Bucks stopping the run. I tend to lean toward Furls - Wiscy wants to control the ball, but can they against the OSU D.

I actually think Wiscy's chance is dependant on them hitting some big plays, a la Lee Evans a few years back on a Saturday night.

And give me the Vest over Bielama any day.

Never know in a conference game at night, but I think the Bicks have too much on both sides of the ball here.

I am more worried about the environment than the team. This Wisconsin team's credentials really aren't that good. Not saying the team is not good, but so far, what is the scary Wisconsin win? So far the Badgers have beaten 1-5 UNLV, 1-5 SJSU, 3-3 Arizona St, 1-5 Minnesota, and Austin Peay. They have looked OK against all of them, but not terrifying.

My big concern is Pryor making a couple of early mistakes against Wiscy D and keeping the crowd in it or the Bucks playing ball control and keeping Wiscy in it. I would like to see the Bucks take advantage of Wiscy's over aggressive WDE with delayed QB runs through C Gap on that side. That will help keep the guy at home. Pryor will also need to do a better job of getting rid of the ball earlier, he will not have as much time as he did last week. I think it is important for OSU to get the ball and score early. I have a feeling they will get the first possession of the game (I think Wiscy will be looking for the big first series stop to ignite the crowd, so they will defer and the Bucks will want to score early so they will take the ball) and if they can score first then get a stop, Camp Randle will be reduced to a mere frenzy vice the insanity the Bucks will see at kick off. I really think that is a key.

All in all, I am more worried about the TE's than the Wisconsin running game. Our safeties have not been great in coverage and we tend to play a lot of cover 2. The Badgers love hitting that vertical seam, so that is a bit scary.

I think Wiscy will run the ball (some), but I don't think it is enough to dominate the clock. I haven't seen a team ram the ball down the Buckeyes throats since maybe LSU in the '07 championship game; I don't think that changes today.

I'm w/Furls and Phil Steele on this one today. If Pryor is healthy the Buckeyes win comfortably in an uncomfortable place to play and Pryor walks out of Camp Randall as a clear cut Heisman favorite.

Yes, Gilreath is playing....he always seems to hurt OSU with the flanker around...I think two years ago he was the leading UW rusher with that stuff.

Awesome street scene here. I stayed about 40 miles south in Janesville last night, and came in around 11 am today, so I've had several hours to kill here today just cruising around the bars and tailgate scene, talking to people and yelling out the occasional O-H
