OSU-EMU Game Thread

Unread postby danwismar » Sat Sep 25, 2010 3:12 pm

Figured I'd start a game thread. I'm settled here in the press box with nothing much to do but live-blog a little and do some random tweeting. I've already downed as much City Barbecue as I can handle.

Jump right in. I don't want to be the only one commenting here. Could be a yawner, but it'll be worth it if we see a lot of some of the young kids, especially Hall and Berry. That's what I'm hoping for.

24 minutes to kickoff.

Got my bourbon, football time! Probably game hopping after halftime. I'd like to watch Luck throw the ball and see how good 'Bama is. Go Bucks!

I will be glued to the game for all 60 minutes. I am going with 59-0 OSU.

WTF is that. What do the refs have to do when an OSU kicks it into the endzone?

If you can go by the green and white clothing in the visitors' stands here at the Shoe, Eastern Michigan has about 37 people here among the 105,000.

Just a handful of empty seats here...thought there might be more today.

1:04 on the scoring "drive". Wisky put up 70 points today. Maybe the Bucks will top that. Tressel's teams have only scored 50+ four times, with a high of 58, tweets Doug L.

Pryor makes 2 solid throws despite knowing he was gonna get drilled.

To be fair, they rarely get more than that at a home game.

We have to start dominating the running game against inferior teams more, especially inbetween the tackles.

Disagree. Always need movement up front. Love to see the option read play from Pryor, which is set up off the running game.

I think 59-0 might have been conservative. I could see 70 in this game even with conservative playcalling. Boom looks decent, nice vision, nice instincts. I would be OK with Boom as #1 back, I know he isn't going to get us a bunch of 70 yard runs, but I'll take the fact that I think he gets the most out of every play for his ability. I still want to see some Hall, Berry, Hyde and Smith carries today. I would like to see TP pad his Heisman numbers abit.

I want to see our O line come to fruition for a long stretch of games against these bum match ups (for once in the last 4 years). We really should be seeing huge holes for Herron to get through, and we're not.

24-0 is nice though.

Well if we weren't going to cover the spread I sure as hell figured it would not be due to the D giving up a TD to be honest.

Playing a really aggressive D-scheme. Lots of blitzes, EMU playing perfectly against it, using 3step drops, quick routes against soft coverage. I have no complaints about the D (surprisingly) thus far.

Wondering WTF our wide outs are having so many trouble getting open, anywhere? While we are a running team first we should be tearing them up through the air as well. I just aint seeing a good outlook with this group of wide outs against a legit team with legit D.

I've seen that stat twice today now. OSU has had 59 consecutive with 100,000+. What is the significance?

My guess is that we've had the capacity for 100,000+ for 59 games. And, assuming south stands doesn't fall down, we will continue to have 100,000+ until the apocalypse.

Just thought it was a strange thing to keep bringing up.

Good to see Hall in there. Hopefully we get some Berry in the second half. It's almost strange the lack of carries that Berry got last week. Don't quite get it.

Quite a disappointing game for the secondary today, no doubt the weak link on the D that needs to get their shit straight soon.

Yeah, Dominick Clarke and Pitts Brown have not looked great. Devon Torrence has been weak as well. Clearly the weak link of the D. EMU has just laid the road map for more talented teams. Short drops and passes under the zone and out to the 1:1 receiver. We do not have the typical OSU shutdown CBs this year.
Coming from a Wolverine, we're the football equivalent of a formerly abused wife of a meth addict who just remarried the safe nice guy. We're just glad we have someone who's aware that it's a rivalry and that tackling on defense is integral. Baby steps.

You're like a friggin naysaying machine.
Sometimes yes, sadly I'm correct much more than I'm not. You're not trying to defend this secondary as anything much better than average are you....

Wait don't answer, I forgot you're drinking.
