Good book and quite possibly, an even better movie...

Probably the best flick I've watched all year (no, I haven't seen Inception)...

Hannibal Lecter, Vito Corleone, Randall McMurphy, Jeff Spicoli watch out...There's a great new character in Lizbeth Salander on the scene and you can't take your eyes off her...

Right now, it's a Swedish, foreign film and ya gotta do some reading, but it's still better than the majority of crap Hollywood makes...Speaking of Hollywood, David Fincher's suppose to remake this next year with Daniel Craig...They definitely need to teach this Swedish chick to speak english, because there's no one better to play the part...

Part 2 just got released with #3 coming in a few months...

On the waiting list at the library for the movie. Looking forward to it. I think I'll like it a lot better than the book.

I read the book first and thought they did a hell of a job with the movie (just like I pictured it)...Dawn hasn't read the book yet and loved the movie...She started reading it last night...

Wait a minute! You did read "Tattoo" first right? Otherwise, why are you reading "Fire"? And if ya have read "Tattoo", then why are you asking me if you should see the movie first? Damn, I'm easily confused...Too many GL's this weekend...

Just finished Dragon Tattoo, and I'll echo what some others have said. It's good, and I enjoyed the read, but I don't get why this one is so much bigger than a bunch of other books I've read. I didn't get everything right, but I was able to figure out certain plot points (some very early on) based on obvious thriller stereotypes. Not much shocked me.

Gonna read the other two books though, because like I said, I did enjoy the read despite my criticism.

I've had this movie sitting in my Netflix Instant Queue for a couple of weeks now. Thought the description looked intriguing, but I hadn't heard anything about it until this thread. I appreciate the heads up fellas and I'll definitely be checking it out this weekend.

About half way done with "Hornet's". Finished the others earlier in the summer. Pretty good, especially considering I'm not a big non-fiction guy. I'll check out the movie for sure.

EDIT: Watched the movie last night. Disappointed. Not very good. To each his own, but like with all book-to-movie adaptations they left a lot out. I'll go see the American version when it comes out, but I hope the add more to the screen play.

What's wrong with a movie being 2.5 hours long if it's good?

To the point, FINALLY had time with all this new job stuff to see the movie.

Serious Oscar push is going to happen for Noomi Rapace for her role as Lisbeth. She was amazing.

Yeah, some of the movie was standard thriller fare, but it was just done so well and the characters were totally fleshed out. I was doing a little cheer when Lisbeth took down that scum bucket parole pervert.

I think Fincher did the right thing (other than casting Rapace) by casting a relative unknown, Rooney Mara as Lisbeth in the US version, opposite Daniel Craig as Blomkvist. We'll see how it goes.

Just finished The Girl Who Played With Fire. I thought it was slow to get into, but once it got to the meat of the story, it was much better than the first. Gonna start the last book tomorrow.

Went back and read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo ... before I finished The Girl Who Played With Fire. Excellent book. Have the movie at home waiting for me. Can't wait to see it.

Back at The Girl Who Played With Fire now ... got about 250 pages left. Just getting real good now.

I read all three swerb. In my opinion the third was the best (and given the quality of the other two books, that's saying something). Hope you find the time to finish off the trilogy.

Just saw The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest yesterday. Good wrap up.

Interestingly, I read the first two books while on my cruise, which meant that I read "Dragon Tattoo" after I had seen the movie, and then read "Fire" before I saw the movie.

I would say in both cases, it was better (would have been better) to see the movie first then read the book. The revalations in the second book kind of took away from the impact of the movie. (I have not read the third book yet).

As it stands, movie wise, the first movie is the best by far. It stands up completely on its own, and would be a classic even if the other movies weren't made.

But the other two are not the watered down sequels you normally get...they are both quite good.

However, unlike the first movie, the second two play out as a two-parter...you really can't have one without the other. Still, a very good thriller, but the final part is very talky, and Lisbeth isn't as prominent as she was in the first two (for obvious reasons).

I'm hoping that at some point Netflix will carry the six part Millenium tv series that aired in Sweden this year, and was a follow-up to the movies/novels.
