Same laptop.Not sure what is doing the decoding.Another difference would be the Hitachi (the TV where the audio worked) is hooked up to a sound system and audio NOT coming out of the TV speakers. The Bravia, however, has no sound system hooked up, so the audio has no other choice but to come out of the TV speakers.

That box is what decodes the DTS data stream and sends the signal through to the speakers. Your laptop won't decode the DTS audio without the proper sound card and codecs.
