Carling Cup 2010-11

Unread postby RIBrownsFan » Tue Aug 24, 2010 9:00 pm

For those not familiar, the Carling Cup is in full swing over in Britain. It's an in-season tournament involving all the teams from the top four tiers of British football.

The big money teams don't usually go all out for it, often times just playing prospects and youngsters, so it can provide the opportunity for the rest of teams to have a deep cup run.

They are currently contesting the Second Round (round of 64). My Stokies defeated Shrewsbury Town today and Pharaoh's Baggies topped Leyton Orient.

Today's results (home team listed first):

Blackburn 3-1 Norwich
Bradford 1-2 Preston After Extra Time
Brentford 2-1 Hull
Crewe 0-1 Ipswich After Extra Time
Hartlepool 0-3 Wigan
Leeds United 1-2 Leicester
Leyton Orient 0-2 West Brom
Millwall 2-1 Middlesbrough
MK Dons 4-3 Blackpool After Extra Time
Morecambe 1-3 Burnley
Peterborough 2-1 Cardiff
Portsmouth 1-1 Crystal Palace Portsmouth win 4-3 on penalties
Reading 3-3 Northampton Northampton win 4-2 on penalties
Scunthorpe 4-2 Sheff Wed
Southampton 0-1 Bolton
Stoke 2-1 Shrewsbury
Sunderland 2-0 Colchester
Tranmere 1-3 Swansea
Watford 1-2 Notts County
West Ham 1-0 Oxford Utd
Wolves 2-1 Southend

Good performance from Albion's reserves

another new player scored his first for the club (Ibanez)
we've always had a tradition of strong centre-halfs who are threats to score from set pieces
