I've only been to Windsor, so I can't speak to which casino is better. However, if you are planning any, um, excursions to gentleman's establishments, I have to think that Canada is the place you want to be.

Not that I know anything about that.

Been like 10 years since I've been to Windsor, but I prefer Mountaineer now that they have table games. Also, recently went to the new Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, which is nice. They also just got table games.

Mountaineer has a horse track out back and nicer amenities on the property. Windsor - other things to do in and around there, especially if you want to get in a little trouble.

Detroit casinos suck IMO. Card room at the Greektown is the only thing I liked about any of em.

I like Seneca Allegany and Seneca Niagara a lot. Very nice casinos, very good buffets. And Seneca Niagara (2.5-3hrs away) is next to the falls if the night and the gambling take a suicidal turn.

Seriously, Seneca Niagara has a little bit of everything with the Falls and a couple other casinos across the Canadian border, not to mention clubs and bars in the vicinity. You can get a driver's passport (that's good for Canada and Mexico) and is cheaper than a regular passport if you don't have one.

No poker at Presque Isle at all. Both Senecas and Mountaineer have card rooms and tourneys.

I'm not big into tourneys but I do know each has regularly scheduled tourneys on a daily/weekly basis and I've also been told Mountaineer has had no problem filling theirs. Seneca is more remote and sometimes lacks the players to start a tourney.

Each place also has sit-n-gos and, again, Mountaineer is drawing a lot more people because of the proximity to big Ohio cities.

Cleveland, Akron, Columbus all feed Mountaineer. 90 minute trips or so. It takes people from those cities longer to get to the riverboats of Indiana, Seneca casinos or Windsor. Pittsburgh feeds Mountaineer as well. From what I'm told there's always action down there.

i went to the soaring eagle casino in mount pleasant michigan a few years ago and had a pretty decent time there. it's quite the drive though as it's stuck literally smack dab in the middle of nowhere in the upper middle region of that state up north.

Mountaineer runs a couple $40 buy-in tourneys on Mondays. One at noon and one at 7:30. Typical pay/blind structure. They've got an extra 2,000 for a $5 dealer tip. The play is mediocre. The dealers are hit or miss. Some are slow as fuck, others are speedy. But they run two tournaments per day and some bigger ones on Saturdays.

My favorite poker room for cash games was Seneca Allegany, but they've since moved the poker room out of the main casino. I hate Mountaineer for cash games. Allegany never got sit n gos running.

I didn't play in it, but MGM Grand Detroit's poker room was very secluded and totally laid out.


To those who asked, I love Windsor. I've had the best luck there with the slots when I play them to spend time with the wife. I only play the penny and play real low risk because I know I'll be dicked no matter what. But she's won $500 on a nickel machine there and I was up nearly $100 on pennies there last trip. I still hate slots.

If you sign up for a player's card at Windsor, there's a good chance that you'll get two free rooms every couple months. I hadn't been there in well over a year and got two free rooms back in June. I've got two more from Aug 1-Oct 31 and I'll probably give myself a birthday present and go up there.

In terms of Casino Niagara/Fallsview, love Casino Niagara. Love the sportsbook. It's a very well spread out place and all non-smoking. Fallsview seems to be the higher roller one of the two. Niagara has an electronic $1 Let It Ride machine that was pretty cool if you're on a tight budget. I won a grand there at a $10 table the first time I played LIR with quad 4s.


Seneca Niagara, as Peek mentioned, is nice. It's a beautiful casino too.

I hate Presque Isle. The dealers are brutally slow, the place is ridiculously cramped, and the people are exceptionally inconsiderate. If you're looking in the two hour range, I'd do Mountaineer long before Presque Isle.

Allegany has 24/7 $5 blackjack tables, which is nice if you want to just go for some enjoyment. It's a really nice drive in the fall too, lots of trees.

If you're in to pai gow, none of the local casinos have it. I know Windsor has it.



I'd probably rank them (of the ones I've played in): Allegany, Casino Niagara/Caesars Windsor, Mountaineer, Fallsview, Presque Isle.
