High School World Series this Weekend

Unread postby peeker643 » Sat Jul 24, 2010 12:49 pm

Alex Rodriguez, Jayson Werth, Todd Helton and Alex Cora have all played in the CABA World Series. The CABA High School World Series is going on in Euclid, Mentor, Willoughby, Eastlake, Kenston and Kent St this weekend. Great baseball and future stars. Check out the schedule here: http://www.cabahsws.com/WsSchedule.aspx.html Also, Euclid plays perennial power Brooklyn at 8pm tonight and Florida right afterward after rain put a crimp into that published schedule.

If you're looking for affordable baseball you could do far worse.

I'm going to go up to Euclid at some point this evening and watch Brooklyn and Florida completely demoralize the host team as happens most years.

Sitting at Diamond 1 in Euclid watching a 14 yr old that Brooklyn flew in throw 87 mph fastballs and 79 mph sliders at a really nice team from Cincy. Scouts are drooling and double checking their guns. I'd already take him ahead of Laffey/Sowers in my rotation.

Kid just got out of a bases loaded, no outs jam by striking out the side with 89, 90 and 91mph fastballs. Unfair.

I'd go if I were there. Busy having my 15 tryout for a couple of top programs here in Cent. Fla but I am not sure he'll be good enough. Shame he's close but with playing football he doesn't have a lot of time to spend working on stuff... Not sure how bad he wants it, and don't want to be the dad from Dead Poet's Society. Do you have a kid playing ball or just taking in some good youth baseball?

No kids involved for me dmiles. I have 3 girls, one of which is a sophomore in high school this year but is not an athlete.

I go up there every year because there's a collection of very good ball players on very good teams and its fun watching the best of any age group compete at the highest level.

And when you go somewhere and watch a 14 yr old kid throw 90mph and snap off Chris Perez-like sliders ;-) ;) you have to do it.

I umpired that tournament for the first couple years when they had 16 teams and it's now a tradition to go up when I can especially now that there are 64 teams playing at a few different local venues.
