I just finished Metal Gear 2 and have started Metal Gear 3 Snakeater. I am in my 6th season on NCAA09 college football with UK, and play a couple games a week. That is my diet now, but with baseball coaching and with outside stuff to do, my gaming will be very limited for a few months. Hopefully all these cool games, you guys are writing about, will be in $15 range at Record Exchange come September. I am always a year behind, and sometimes a few years.

Metal Gear is pretty wicked, even on PS2. You guys that are cheap like me, 2 and 3 are worth the 5 bucks, that they can be had for at game exchange places. I think, I paid 8 for MG3 though, but it is well worth it so far.

I just got Skate 3. It's pretty cool. Way better then Tony Garbage. I can't say if it's better then Skate 2 or not because I skipped the sequel but I can say it's a pretty big improvement over the first skate. They got Jason Lee to voice the skate coach. Sweet!

Dude i'm still playing Rome Total War, and that came out in 2004.

I highly recommend it if you like RTS. Very realistic, alot of factions from the period.

I'll have to check that out CDT. Play just about all RTS games. Play the crap out of the Civilization games. Any game where thinking is > hand eye coordination/mouse keyboard skills is cool with me...

I have been such a drought as far as playing a game that has sucked me in...

I'm a fan of the MMO games. Shadowbane was by far the most fun of any game I've ever played. I enjoyed DAOC for awhile, played WoW until I hit 80 and realized the grind was just beginning. Can't find a single MMO to hold my attention at this point.

I like the Civilization games but haven't really played much recently. Don't know a lot of people still playing them and can't get enjoyment beating the AI anymore. Anxiously awaiting Civ 5 though...

I enjoy sports games, but baseball is tough to stick with due to the impossibly long seasons. I like simulators like Baseball Mogul 11.

Just nothing has grabbed my attention long enough to really get into them.

There's gotta be tons of old-school, adventure gaming nerds here. I just downloaded the new Monkey Island game on the PlayStation Network over the weekend, Tales of Monkey Island. Apparently this came out for PC last year as a serialized, 5-part game where a new episode was released each month. Anyway, it's a continuation of the greatest adventure gaming series ever made. Guybrush Threepwood, mighty pirate, first hit the scene in 1990 and has progressed through 4 games, each time battling the cursed pirate LeChuck and trying to save his wife. It still has the same old quick-witted charm (same development team as the original) that people who have played the entire series are used to. Downloaded it for $20 and have played about 3 hours and I'm still not done with the first episode so should be a good bang for your buck game, time-wise.

It's a thinking game. Deploying and moving units is key. You do gotta be quick on the mouse sometimes, if a unit routs and runs you can rally them with your general.

Unlike most RTS games, it takes into account the direction your units are facing. If you're rocking an elite Spartan Phalanx you're still vunerable to being hit from behind by enemy cavalry. If you run your best cavalry straight at a decent Phalanx, the Phalanx wins, even VS war elephants. You also get to besiege cities with battering rams, siege towers and giant ladders (some factions can build catapults to knock down walls). You also must manage your settlements, if the populations gets pissed they can riot and revolt, if there's not enough sewage and waste disposal, a plague can break out.

Picked up a 360 yesterday. Got Bioshock and Dead Space, BS is fantastic. Graphics are excellent in HD. I've always been a Halo fan, any other recommendations for online FPS?

Gears of War 2 just for Horde mode. Team vs. Team for Gears is crap compared to Call of Duty though. And CD is right, Modern Warfare (CoD4) is light years better than Modern Warfare 2.

Wow, that's so weird...I bought one the same day! I ended up getting the new Transformers game (fun so far) and Red Dead Redemption (awesome!). So far, I get slaughtered every time I enter a gun fight, but the thing is so damn cool that I don't even care.

Erie, just go get Fallout 3 Game Of The Year Edition. Incredible game, FPS RPG, huge map with tons of places to explore, great weapons and the Game Of The Year version has all the expansions for free. One of them you go to a nuked Pittsburgh.

Also, Mass Effect 1&2, Dragon Age: Origins, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

It's not a pure RPG, you level up and you're assigned missions, but the combat is all action and really addictive.

NCAA is pretty good, better than last year's.

I'll second all of those.

And even though all are technically considered RPG's, the only one that's even remotely close to the traditional RPG's is Dragon Age, and even that isn't that close.

The Mass Effect games are incredible, especially with the story. Elder Scrolls and Fallout are somewhat similar, being from the same company, but still have enough differences to make each it's own game.

I've had it since it came out and haven't even opened it yet. I've heard good things, but MW2 was a such a hug pile of noob camper garbage Haloish dual wield nonsense.... one of those once bitten, twice shy kinda things.

Browns kind of suck in the Tecmo Bowl series, just not enough speed at RB and LB speed was eh.

But the dirty nose guard trick helped make up for a lot of deficiencies for many teams.

Doesn't help that they took the rosters from the 1990 season, which was one of transistion and injury. I believe the NFL yearbook for that years team was entitled "The Season From Hell".

Dragon Age 2 coming out soon...

Finally got Mass Effect 2 about a week ago, and that would be the best $19.99 I ever spent on a game. Wound up getting all the DLC because game was just that damn good. In about a weeks time I finished off ME1 and was able to jump right into 2 (Now playing thru again. Anyone do insanity? How much harder?). I love being late to the show.

Will do the same with Dragon Age.

I'm taking a whole week of vacation time, that's how much i'm looking forward to it. I'm going to take a crack at Deadspace 2 next week. The first one was really good.

And maybe Alan Wake at some point.

LOVED Mass Effect 2, and I'm eagerly awaiting 3. I thought the DLC, especially Lair of the Shadow Broker, was fantastic (and well worth the money). It's the first DLC they've had for either game that truly sets up events for the next one. I think they said there was one more that would be released, called "Arrival". One guess as to what that might be about!

Insanity for Mass Effect 2 is pretty difficult, especially at first. The part on Horizon when you have all those Scions and the Praetorian...that's difficult. The part on the Collector ship with the platforms? That's brutal. It's all about positioning your squadmates. But on pretty much any other mission, as long as you take the right squadmates with you (Warp/Incinerate squadmates for Collector missions, Overload/AI Hacking for Geth, etc) and utilize cover at all times, you'll do alright. The biggest differences are that every enemy has some form of protection and you have to make use of your big guns (which is not a necessity on other missions).

I'll play anything Bioware puts out at this point. I have faith that it'll be a great product.

Agree on the BioWare part. After KotOR I pretty much just search their games out and haven't been disappointed. Sounds like insanity is too much work, and its been awhile since I went legendary on games.

CDT, no doubt I'' have whatever Bethesda comes out with. They have just about gone throu ll the races of the Elder Scrolls universe. Should be interesting.

I'm with you on this one. It will be legendary. I'm still finishing up another run through on Oblivion in anticipation. And I just finished Dead Space 2. Great game and scary for a video game.

I was tired of paying $50-60 for a new game so I took a look at Steam's backlog. Got Medieval 2:Total War + the expansion pack for $10 bucks and picked up Torchlight as well ($20). Torchlight is a straight hack n' slash action-RPG that is an unabashed Diablo 2 clone. Lots of loot and helped feed the Diablo craving until 3 comes out. Torchlight 2 comes out in June or July as well.

I played Dragon Age and loved it, fantastic story just don't know when or even if I'll pick up 2 because it sounds like they changed a ton of stuff. In the end I assume I'll eventually get it and love it. I definitely need to pick up Mass Effect 1 and 2 as well.

I have 18 characters over level 40 in Oblivion.......

And I can make the game crash anytime I go to my house in Skingrad, I duped like 10,000 skulls and the 360 just cannot process that many.

Oblivion and Fallout 3 are epic, New Vegas was really glitchy and felt rushed. But I still liked it.

The Dragon Age 2 demo came out and after pissing with the settings to get it not to crash (crashes on anything other than low settings, no vertical sync) I gave it a run through. Looks much better than DAO even on the low settings. Faster paced, the skills look very impressive. Can't wait for it to ship.

Pre-ordered Portal 2 from Amazon because it came with $5 off the price and a $20 Amazon gift card to your online account; brilliant game. The first one (and this one) was designed by the guys who made Half-Life (Valve) and they added it onto the PS2 version of the Orange Box. I never played the first one because my computer wasn't good enough but this one is awesome. Very unique game that requires you to use a portal gun to get out of a series of tests (puzzles) in a laboratory. Downright, the funniest game I have ever played. One of the robots is voiced by the other main half of the British version of The Office, Stephen Marchant, so you can expect what his dialogue is like, and the evil computer (GLaDos) is also hilarious in it's passive-aggressiveness and straight aggressiveness.

Another unique aspect is the PS3 version comes with a PC version of the game through the Steam client and PC and PS3 people can play co-op together. And the co-op storyline is completely unique from the single-player storyline so it's pretty much 2 games in 1. Haven't got to try this yet as the Playstation Network has been down since yesterday but I can't wait. I've never seen cross-platform co-op/multiplayer before. If you're looking for a different kind of game, buy this.

Wow, almost a full year since the last post in here.

Just finished Mass Effect 3. Probably not as good as ME2, but overall a very good game. Easily the funniest of all three. A lot of Mass Effect related jokes. Ending was shit though. Can't say anything without spoiling, but god damn was it unsatisfying.

I still haven't beaten Skyrim. I might finish that in the next year or so. Damn that game is big.

I loved ME3 right up until the ending. I thought it was easily the best game of the series up until the last half hour or so.

Anyone doing multiplayer? I didn't think I'd like it, but it's really a lot of fun - especially once you find a character you're really good at. For me, that's an Asari character (either adept or vanguard) or a human engineer.

What I really like about it is that all experience earned is pooled together, so it really is in your best interests to communicate and work together to bring down enemies. And if you're lucky enough to find a group that communicates and really tries hard to work together, keep that group around as long as possible! The only part I don't like is the random loot. There are still a couple characters I have yet to unlock...
