LeBron to take out full page ad in tomorrow's PD?

Unread postby Eileen88 » Thu Jul 15, 2010 5:55 pm

Probably trying to salvage his image after seeing himself be ridiculed and booed on the ESPY's last night. He only cares about his national image, he couldn't care less what Cleveland thinks about him, as evidenced by his actions. Actions speak louder than words.

I gotta say, in watching the highlights of the ESPY's ... it was epic seeing LeBron get loudly and unanimously booed ... just at the mention of his name. And then the parody they did of The Decision, that was great as well.

Woulda loved to have been a fly on the wall of wherever that coward's no-show Espy watch party was for him and his posse of morons. Would have loved to seen the look on those idiots faces when he got booed like that.

Eff him, his brand, and his full page ad. I hope he rips his knee to shreds.

Looks like LeBitch and DWade had their feelings hurt by all the jokes last night.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... ision-wade

James was the subject of countless jokes during Wednesday’s ESPY awards, and Wade saw the humor in some of them. Others, however, had him bristling.

“You get defensive with things like that,” Wade said. “He’s a good friend. You understand people say it because it’s a hot topic. They wanted people to react in a positive way or a negative way, just because it’s a hot topic to talk about. It’s a punch line. They just wanted to have something to do with it. They wanted to feel involved in some way.”

I would urge the PD to reject his ad, but this thing will probably make up half their advertising budget for the month. They could put a big red box around the ad and disrespectfully give a statement that the ad in no way represents what the PD believes about this, oh let's keep it classy for the children..."Basketball-playing Benedict-Arnoldian Twenty-Five Cent Whore"... would that work?...

I wonder if anyone has done any research into how many eyes/ads/online clicks for newspapers LeBron James is taking away from the Plain Dealer.

The financial impact has been talked about, but this could literally lose them Windhorst and hundreds of thousands of dollars in advertising money.

LeBron James could single-handidly alight the final straw to the end of newspapers as we know it in the region.

Was that too melodramatic? It felt melodramatic...

If anyone has a link to the clips of the ESPYs swerb is referring to, throw it up.

Best quote from that article, btw:
“He knew he had help and guys came through for him,” James said last week of Bryant’s Game 7 showing in the finals.

LeBron, guys didn't come through for Kobe. They aren't playing for the glorification of Kobe. They came through for themselves and the team.

Bill Russell must be shaking his head.

Full page, full color ads are only about $3,000-$4,000. But no way any paper rejects that revenue nowadays. Hell my paper basically threw our advertising reservation deadlines out the window because of that.

The PD doesn't have it's own dedicated web site, as Cleveland.com isn't just for the Plain Dealer. It might cost them some web traffic, but as far as paper subscriptions go... probably not much. I don't expect that the people that are getting the PD at home were getting it just for the Cavs coverage.

And DWade is an idiot. Lebron didn't quit? Really? He apparently wasn't watching what the rest of us were.

CC put a solid full-page ad in the paper when he was traded away...

"LeBron, I served with CC Sabathia: I knew CC Sabathia; CC Sabathia was a friend of mine. LeBron, you're no CC Sabathia."

I say we start a collection and buy a full page ad of our own in the Miami Herald. I think we only need a couple words to say what we need to say.

Which one of LBJ's high school boy-advisors has an education that would equip them to construct an ad that made any sense. Good thing for spell check.
