Personally, I'm fine with this. He's at that point at this career where he's allowed to chase a ring. Also, if the Heat somehow do win a title in the near future, there will be some bright side to it... Z finally getting his.

I do hope the last line of the article comes true.

Good for Z. :nanner:

I hope the Heat wins it all. :lmfao:

It's funny as I talk to more and more who were in love with LBJ, they are now the ones who are the most mad, jilted lovers. It's awesome. :pop:

For those who still love MeBron, you can now relish that Z could get his ring too.

With Bron it was like a slow boil to hate, and the decision just signaled that no more water was in the pot.

With Z its real. Real, real...

I believe that this was done simply to attempt to quell the chances of a riot that first time LeQuit comes back to town. "nobody will cause trouble if we sign their beloved Z". Next I expect the Heat to sign Bernie Kosar, Omar Vizquel, a group of Iraq War veterans, and a litter of cute labrador puppies.

I love Z. I wish him well. Screw the rest of them.

Not sure I see Z quite fitting into the predicted Heat style of play.

Of course, they could just tell him to stand near the basket on D, be 7'4", put your arms up, grab a rebound, outlet, and wait for us to come back to you on D a few moments later.

I really don't have any hate for Z. Just had so much apathy for when LBJ left wanted to see if I still had that part of Cleveland fan in me... The hate will cleanse the soul.

Also a quick recap of those injury filled seasons reveals more loyalty on the Cavaliers side of the equation. Really deep down I like Z as a man and player, but this loyalty bullshit doesn't wash with me at all.

Cavs traded Z when they felt it necessary, and he is signing with another team when he felt it was necessary. Who can blame him? He's going to get a positive reception when the Heat come in (at least he GD better get a positive reception) while the fans blast the hell out of James.

I'm not the biggest fan of the on the court Z, but I wish him no ill will, and agree he has earned the right to choose to chase a ring, however I hope he doesn't get it in Miami, for obvious reasons.

We've been down this road before but I cannot help but state I don't support retiring Z's jersey. It is just too sad a statement about the franchise to retire the jersey of such a mediocre player. If it happens it happens but I just don't see the reason for a big push for it.

Didn't Z read Thunder Dan Gilbert's letter to That Guy? Doesn't he know that Cleveland is going to win a ring before That Team? Why would he leave to chase a ring with That Team when he could win one here first? That Z! What a kidder!

One of my employees called and said there's a van parked near the Reider's/Panini's here in Concord...

On the side, there's a banner which reads "Heat Suck, King Swallows" towards the store fronts...

The funny thing is, Z's wife owns the Total Rebound injury/rehab place that operates there...

Called my wife and told her to stop on her way home and take a picture

I would really like to know how Z earned the right to go ring chasing.

All he did was get max dollars, get hurt here give some good years post injury (well after he had been collecting money), resign for more max dollars and get hurt.

Z didn't give us a hometown discount in 2005 to sign another FA, he took us for all he could. Z didn't give back any money from his three hurt seasons out of his first 7. Z didn't resign during the dark years of the early 2000s, he got his long as deal in the late 90s and his second deal in the LBJ era.

Z was a basketball player the got paid a shit ton to play here and never did anything beyond that.

Nice guy for all I hear, but I don't really give a fuck.

Now he can go sit on the bench in Miami for the duration of the playoffs and get a ring for it.

I'm just glad I don't have to watch the slow ugly fucker run around the court on any of the three or four teams I plan on following next year. My eyes appreciate him finally moving the fuck on.

This is about as big of news as JB melting down post LBJ was.

Was he some type of Josh Cribbs in the community? I will admit that maybe I am wrong but the guy seemed pretty non-descript. Outside the recent LBJ fiasco to compare this too, how does a guy that leaves the home team, to chase a ring (front run), with a contract on the table, get canonized?

Just seems like a loser mentality. Since the bar is set so low on retired jerseys, it would be fine to wait till he was out of the league a few years to hang his number, not on their first trip to Cleveland.

A Cleveland Institution? Perhaps on par with that building with a whale on it.

That's the thing, look who we are putting him up against, the Larry Nance's, Tyrone Hill's, Bobby Sura's and Derek Anderson's of the world, not to mention for the most part of the prime of his career there were two real NBA centers in the league, hence him being one of the best centers in the league.

It's a lot harder to hate on Z than on LeChoke. But Z just consciously went to Team Evil. Sure, he did it for reasons that any one of us would comprehend. But frankly my dear I don't give a damn.

He can't guard anybody. He is slower than a pack of turtles. Nothing left in the tank, but a nice set shot, that goes bad after two minutes of play. This is one of the first moves to please the Queen, that Riley will end up regretting IMO.

z not worthy of having his jersey retired??? he's the cavs' all-time leader in games played, rebounds, blocked shots and 2nd in scoring, was on the 1st team all-rookie team and named rookie game mvp (other notable rookie game mvp's - kobe bryant & allen iverson just to name a few), was a 2-time all-star picked by the all-star team coach, which i think is an even greater deal than being picked by the fans who pick the same players every year more as a popularity contest than who is actually deserving of the honor. remember last year, the fans picked an aging iverson to start??? anyway, i get the "mad-on" everyone has for lebron and the miami heat at this time. i'm just as pissed about it as everyone else is, but to project all that disgust onto z now just isn't fair. with the exception of art modell and now lebron, time heals all wounds, so give it about 5 years or so after he eventually retires and then bring him back in for a ceremony then. besides, his wife is from cleveland and so she will probably still have some family here then and the cavs can turn it into a real nice family affair.

Z consciously went to Team Evil because of loyalty. By taking his lack of talents to South Beach, he'll be more valuable to the Cavs than he has been in years. Love that big lug.

Beyond the stat lines of being a 7 and 5 guy last year averaging 20 mins in 64 games, the guy does not pass the eye test. His decline has been rather obvious. The Big 3 will be playing way over his head.

The dude can't play anymore. Terrible signing for the Heat if they are looking for an actual contribution.

Enough with the player-city loyalty bullsh*t. It's as real as the tooth fairy. Player-player loyalty exists to small degree, but player-money loyalty trumps all.

TMLP's 2nd letter to the fans:

http://www.esquire.com/the-side/lebron- ... s-07142010

July 14, 2010

Dear Cleveland, all of Northeast Ohio, Cleveland Cavaliers supporters wherever you may be tonight, and residents of Kaunas, Lithuania;

As you know, our former brittle, aging center is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

It was announced with a cowardly "press release" that our once-beloved "Z" has reached a "Decision" to play alongside the motherfucking piece of shit who betrayed us all last week.

Clearly, this is disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that we had no further use for him. He hasn't played much basketball for the last couple of seasons, he's slow as molasses, and once he taught Anderson Varejao how to eat with utensils and use a condom, he wasn't of much use.

Still, you simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight: "I personally hope that someone notices that Jesse Jackson's son tried to buy a seat in the U.S. Senate from Rod Blagojevich."

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge, and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU DiGiorno pizza, right to your seat at the Q, free of charge. All you can eat. And if the Cavs lose by 15 or less, visit the locker room after the game, where Antawn Jamison and Mo Williams will give all fans free footrubs.

Seriously, who is this guy???

Z is a Cleveland sports institution

Bernie Kosar is a Cleveland sports institution. Z is just another guy who had a long career.
I don't need to be patient, they're going to be shit forever.
