Nope, and in fact, I'd go one step further

for all intensive purposes, every single last damn record in that book he holds is out, give them back to Price, Daughtery and Z.

I hope someone else comes out wearing #23 to start next season. I don't even care who, just give someone whom they acquire #23 and move away from that turncoat. Seeing a picture of him hamming it up in a Heat jersey at that ridiculous victory parade those asses are doing down there almost made me puke.

Records will obviously stay. And no, clearly, to LBJ in rafters under this ownership group.

Ever.

And even under another owner it will take 23 mending a lot of fences here before there is any support for such a thing.

Hard to see that ever happening unless LBJ has a come to Jesus awakening.

And???

The team can revise their media guide and history to their heart's content. They ain't changing records boys.

Come on. The fact someone compiled more assists than someone else ain't up for debate or editing.

You know that.

Shit, Ricky Davis woulda been edited out years ago and OJ wouldn't have gained a yard for the Bills.

Do I really need to argue this further?

I would say unfortunately yes, eventually.

Hell, if the team is still here in 10-15 years the next owner might bring back fat, washed up LeBron in a misguided attempt to sell tickets.

I have a promotional idea that I think Gilbert would love.

For next season have clothing drives at the gates. Ask fans to bring an article of clothing to be donated to the poor in NEO. For ever person that brings in a LeBron shirt, jersey, etc they get a free pop or hot dog.

A) it is for a worthy legit cause in clothing the needy
B) it is for a worthy legit cause in getting LeBron stuff out of circulation in NEO.

I am not even joking.

I don't see a thread on it but I have to assume somewhere in here we are discussing/laughing at Gilbert lowering LeBron Fatheads to a price of $17.41, the birth year of Benedict Arnold.

Unbelievable though...

They have 7 mediocre numbers hangin from the rafters and the best team player of all-time will never be?

I understand it, but only in Cleveland ::doh::

How about a ceremony in a few years, pretending all is forgiven when the Heat come to town, raise the jersey up to the rafters while LeBron watches, and when it gets up there, torch it.

I'm making LeWho shirts and selling them outside the arena for Heat games. Trying to see if Gilbert can get The Who to play at halftime that night....of course they'll play Who Are You.

I'm just being over the top now, I'm in stage 2 FWIW.

Have a call in to a Quicken Loans employee to hunt down a PR guy about the first idea, why the hell not?

Just watched tonight's Heat welcome wagon ceremony, and FUCK HIM!

Stage 2 is going out with a bang for me, not only do I hope he breaks his leg, I hope he drinks contaminated tar water and kisses Magic and gets HIV.

This might be the stupidest thing ever. What's done is done. So if Neil Armstrong was the biggest asshole ever he never landed on the moon?

If I had to e-mail a suggestion to that address it would be "shake yourself"

Embarrassing sour grapes are never good.

And to answer the question, probably not in my lifetime, but with his HS # retired, his Heat number retired and a jersey in the Hall, I'm sure he'll be over not hanging next to Bobby "Bingo" Smith.

The faster you say fuck him and let it go, the better you come out of all of this. It's a forgiving world. Northeast Ohio will be the only ones that keep the hate. To claim he'll continue to be hated (if he ever was) in New York is prepostorous. He'll bounce that orange around a few times, make some astonishing dunks and passes and arenas will be filled with cats ticklin' his balls in no time.

If your hot girlfriend kicks you to the curb, that doesn't make her any less hot, and telling your boys otherwise makes you look pathetic. Saying the records never happened is pretty much the same thing.

You should LOVE Arnold, BP...he did try to help your side win afterall.

As funny as the $17.41 IS, comparing Lejerk to Benny is a major afront to Benny's legacy. Without him we may not be the USA, and might still be worshipping a king...or a queen. He was instrumental in the Battle of Saratoga that turned the tide of the war, not to mention some other heroic deeds.

In the end, good old Benny was a victim of his own ego, some poor treatment by the higher ups in the Continental Army and of course he got involved with a woman who influenced him in a negative way...come to think of it, maybe they ARE an excellent comparison. :fu:

Nothin' personal but, all things considered, this is a pretty dumb question dont'tchya think?

The boi's a punk...comes out wearin' 23 like he's Jordan Incarnate

Now I hear he's gonna wear 6....as if he's The Doctor...Bwah!

Totally oblivious to the fact the Mike never did anything on the court Dr J didn't do first....

This will go down like Ron Pawless and the Fab Five. All hype. All tripe

Trust a Showtime Fan here...LeBitch will never win. He's too much of a pussy

The Runnin' Rebels/Vegas/Thomas & Mack/Showgirls Act II Wannabes were prancing around on a stage like bitches at a wedding shower, Kobe was out draining 3's from half court, LHFAO

Rejoice Cav Fan....Riley has lost with better casts than this

There are plenty of Donte Stallworth's down there.

He can dodge all those, the Haitian drug smugglers, the U's football players, the white sex-slave traders and the cornucopia of STDS down there. Hopefully something sticks.

NFW his number gets retired. Ever.

Instead of hanging it from the rafters they should hang one above every shitter in the Q and put a sticker in each urinal for everyone to piss on.

(mostly a joke)

I missed out on all the shenanigans this weekend since I was out of town away from the computer. I still have much that needs vented.

I voted yes. 10-15 years down the road, no one will have touched any of his records. Right now none of us can remember past last Thursday, but time heals all wounds, and we're all gonna remember how he gave us a sports boner like no one else ever has or will.

Yeah, time heals all wounds. Just ask Modell.

NFW this guy ends up in the rafters if the status quo extends indefinitely. Meaning something other than time passing will have to happen to help heal the wound.

The difference being that Modell was never really that well liked, whereas LeBron was loved, adored, deified, worshipped for 7 years. He contributed at least half of the moments in most of our own personal Top 10s.

No idea what that means. The understanding part, not the Thome part. Thome I dont think is a fair comparison either cuz he never really reached Top 5 favorite Indians (at least for me, he was behind Kenny, Belle, Manny, Omar, Sandy, Baerga, El Presidente, probably others).

My level of hatred for LeBron can not be measured right now. No vulgarity even exists that can describe it. But just as with the girl you loved who dumped you inspiring degrees of hatred you never thought imaginable a week earlier, yet years down the road you pine for her, that's what will ultimately happen with LeBron. Not in 5 years. But it will happen eventually.

Everything Lebron did in the past is now tainted by what he did Thursday.

There is an inappropriate saying about sucking one dick that comes to mind.

Pine for her? You're out of your mind.

Fuck that bitch. I hope her husband gets aids on a "business" trip to Tailand.

Much like with the Tribe subsequent to the departure of some of its select stars, I expect to see some roster fill rockin' #23 for the Cavs this season.

Really? Thome wasn't one of the 5 most popular Indians from that time, let alone of all time?

I dont know, I gave you my personal list which would have him at best at #9. I can see you arguing a bunch of those guys, but Kenny, Omar, Manny, and Sandy are pretty much most people's concensus Top 4 from that era. At least in my circles.

It will never happen. And the fact that LeBron was the "hometown kid" will lengthen the backlash indefinitely.

I'm in favor of the opposite. I'd wipe away any evidence of LeBron James's existence from the Cavalier record books altogether. I'd do what the White Sox do with the 1919 World Series- pretend it never happened.

This motherfucker threw a playoff series. Think about it.

They should resign Delonte and give him #23.

Not saying I agree with it, but he'll get some kind of recognition down the road. Time will pass, people will start to feel nostaglic about that era of Cavs basketball, and it will happen.

Hell, what Thome did may have been worse and there were people who wanted him back this year when he hit FA. Sure, Thome wasn't a hometown kid, but he spent from 1989-2002 in the Indians organization. The team had a chance to trade him, he balked and gave every indication that he'd return, and had exchanged parameters of an extension. Then the Phillies swoop in, make a stupid offer for an extra year, his wife is his rock and he's gone. No legit compensation for the Indians, only 2 compensatory picks (turned into Brad Snyder and Adam Miller).

Not even close. I don't even think what Thome did was all that bad. I thought it was obvious that the FO didn't really want him back anyway.

Exactly. We've been over this ad nauseum, and by far Thome's biggest fault was he opened his mouth.

To suggest this is even in the same ballpark is beyond ridiculous.

The Indians rolled the dice on Thome. They had a chance to trade him at his highest value knowing he might leave, took a chance, and lost.

Plus, I don't remember him having a 1 hr special all about himself to shove a baseball bat up your asses

I'm neither a Cav ot Indians fan and can see this plain as day, fwiw

I'm with the last three posters. Never was bent about Thome. Disappointed? Yes. Sucks losing those guys. But never felt anything resembling the anger and hatred LePunkout generated.

Maybe it was just me. I felt just as angry when Thome left as I did on Thursday night. I'm not going to force anyone to go over that debate again because I'm sure all of you have had it, but my personal reaction to it was similar. FTR, if the front office didn't want him back then they should have just traded him.

Reason it rang true for me was that he, like James now, claimed the move was about "winning", which was not really true. It was about the extra guaranteed money, just like James' move was done so that Wade can carry him to some titles. Entirely their right to move on, just don't blow smoke up our asses about it.
