This is awesome.

Least professional off-season ever.

What do you suppose we said to Shaw to get his agent to report he was finalizing a deal to be our coach?

And, of course, there is the fact that Scott's agent already issued a public congratulations for Shaw.

What a fucking debacle.

Twitter is just as good as it is bad for this crap. I swear I am ready to get my news from stone tablets. They don't waste their time carving rumors in that medium.

Going to make Windy look bad... Roda asked him directly about 90 minutes ago and he said it was a 1 man race with Shaw going to be the man. Talked at length about Scott's "warts" and how excited Shaw had the team.

OJ, all of these rumors have been written several times and in several articles at this point.

Most all of these outlets use twitter to break the story first and then put the story up 20 minutes later.

Twitter has no impact on what is being broken, just the ease of finding it (I mean, the horrid Bosh S & T rumor came from Lebatard on the radio, etc...).

As was stated, this report came from Shaw's agent and was seemingly confirmed by Scott's.

Same as Izzo reportedly never had an offer from us (per Windy) but publicly declined an offer.

Frankly I just think our org is a shit show at the moment.

Bam:

samickFanHouse: Brian Shaw's agent, Jerome Stanley, tells FanHouse that he withdrew his name from consideration this afternoon.

Another option, Phil is undergoing his medical evaluation.

Should have got this done when he was "close to taking the job" and when everyone from Windy to Woj confirmed that he was our #1 target and pretty much "going to be the guy"

Fucking debacle.

Almost as bad as this public Izzo bullshit, which never should have been started unless Gilbert knew he could get him.

Cavs apologist could say that Cavs used Shaw to push Scott to make a decision when he was content to sit back and wait on LBJ and Phil... I think Cavs were backup plans for both Shaw and Scott.

Exactly Eye. You HAVE to know that Jackson news could turn things on their head. I'm just not high on Scott, and was just starting to really get my Shaw mojo going.

Amick doesn't BS. Although why does his name have to even resemble Amico???

Positive side to the Shaw fans: does Scott make it more likely CP3 forces an S&T to CLE? Would kidnapping the children of prominent members of the Hornets' front office help?

FWIW: Amick was the Kings beat guy up until AOL threw a ton of money at him this year and has been considered for ages one of the two great Beat reporters in the league, along w/ Windy. Guys are very very similar and frankly if LBJ bolts I wouldn't be shocked to see Windy end up moving on the same way Amick did.

I've been fine w/ Scott and Shaw all along. Not angry that we picked one over another, more pissed about this entire off-season from the last second dumping of Brown to Ferry being told Gilbert is in charge and replaced w/ a yes man (WITH KEVIN FUCKING PRITCHARD ON THE MARKET) to this disaster of a coaching search. It's been U-G-L-Y.

IMO with this shit, Twitter, message boards, internet outlets, its as Sinatra said. All or nothing at all. Even some of the good ones pick up on shit from others.

If I had to, I go Amick, Woj, and Windy.

To be fair, Pritchard wasn't on the market when Ferry left and they slid Grant in. It would show even more organizational instability if they said "Grant is not just an interim" and then grabbed Pritchard.

Can't disagree that this is some amateur-night stuff, though.

Edit: unless, of course, Pritchard's draft-night ouster was one of those "everybody knows it's gonna happen" type things, which is very plausible. If so, then no excuse for not waiting.

No, Grant was slid in because he was a yes man. No one was interviewed or considered because Gilbert wanted someone that would let him run the show.

Grant could have been interimed and a search started (although after this coaching debacle that would have been awesome) and/or once Pritchard hit the market we could have evolved and made him president or some shit.

The Grant hire is a transparent as transparent gets, it keeps the org in place and puts Gilbert strictly at the head of the table calling the shots.

Yeah Donny. Like Eye said above. At this point the process probably makes me even more sour on Scott. This was handled horribly. Just reeks of roto-world stuff. I really wanted to see the triangle implemented, but since the guy is a proven winner, has head coaching exp., and was a former player, and won a ring I will complain only moderately.

The million dollar question is why where we stringing both along? I mean were we that inept at making the final call? Scott never even had a formal interview, he just happened to be in MI and met w/ Gilbert informally after a phone interview and Shaw allegedly crushed his interview out of the park.

What was the point in not making up our minds?

Trying to drag our feet and let LBJ pick? That doesn't really jive w/ the promises we would have a hire in place by EOD Thursday.

I just don't get it.

I was unaware of this. File me firmly in the "decreasing faith in TMLP" category, then. Even if Pritchard's firing was no guarantee, better to wait to see what happens with a proven commodity than pull the trigger on a rookie. I feel very insecure about an inexperienced GM trying to get together a big deal to land LeBron the guy to convince him to stay.

It was a direct quote to the LA Times yesterday.

This is what was told to the times yesterday:

Lakers assistant coach Brian Shaw likely will be named head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Shaw's agent, Jerome Stanley, said via text Tuesday that Shaw was "close to accepting deal."

Shaw withdrew name this afternoon from cleve. Wasn't comfortable taking job if offered b4 July 1 w/o knowing whether lebron would be there.

Or Shaw was planning to take the job but didn't realize they were going to force him to sign on the dotted line before LBJ did? Doesn't at all explain why Scott is now interested unless Cavs are overpaying.

I think yesterday he would have signed and something came up w/ Phil that Scott didn't catch today.

As Windy just said, all of the reports yesterday came from Shaw's camp beyond the fact that he was absolutely our #1 target, which the Cavs acknowledged.
