MLB Pick 30 - PHASE II - jjgmyers wins again

This is a very fun pool. A lot of fun, excitement, and smack talk for 30 bucks. We run three phases each season. Each last about 50 days with a couple week break between phases.

Here are the winners from the last two plus years:

OFFICIAL RULES

Phase II will last 52 days. Starts on Monday, June 7, 2010. Last day of selections will be Wednesday, July 28 2010. Note that MLB will be off three games for the All-Star break from July 12-14.

Pick one baseball team each night to simply win their game. You cannot pick the same team twice. And you have to select all 30 teams in baseball one time.

Contest lasts for 52 days. So seeing as how you need to pick every team in baseball one time and one time only, there will be 22 days you don't pick a game. Use those PASS days wisely when there is no strong selection amonst the teams you have left to use. All picks must be time stamped, in this thread, no later than the official start time of the game per MLB.com or else the pick is thrown out. While you don't have to post your picks until the start time of the game you are selecting (example: can post a pick for a 10:05 PM EST game at 10:01) ... you cannot change a posted pick once the days first game is underway. If your team is rained out, you get a PASS for that day and have to select that team for another game in the future.

The winner is the person with the most total wins after the Wednesday, July 28 games end. Winning % means nothing. Most total wins. If two people are tied at the end, and one is 22-8, and another is 22-7 (say due to a day #52 rainout) ... that is still a tie. Only category that means anything is total wins.

If everyone makes all their picks, each entrant will have picked exactly 30 games, each team in baseball one time, over a 49 day period. $30 per player, winner take all.

The tiebreaker, once we get there, and if we need it ... will be to pick the winners of every baseball game on the last day of the contest, Wednesday July 28. And note - July 28 is both the final day of the contest, AND the tiebreaker day. Any competitors who could potentially be involved in a tie will have to pick the winners of all 15 games that day. And also identify their final Pick 30 selection, if they still have one pick left to make. The second tiebreaker, if needed, is total runs scored by all the teams you selected to win in the final day tiebreaker. Third tiebreaker would be run differential.

He's still got a stop in Cleveland before falling completely off the baseball map. Fortunately the Astro years will allow him to land on a nice, fat pension for being bad throughout his career.

Guy was a decent prospect for a while with the Tigers.

I remember the Tigers being high on him. The Rockies had him on the ropes inning after inning and they failed to add to their lead. Now they trail to the lowly Astros as Rafael Betancourt serves it up.

A 12-7 day for the field with a mixed bag of results. 6 players backed Strasburg as he dominated a bunch of 'hacks' from Pittsburgh. 4 other players netted wins in blowout style as the Yankees and Rays crushed their opposition.

4 players suffered defeat in backing the Rockies, who suddenly couldn't hit after the 1st inning against journeyman Brian Moehler. To close the day out, the Angels laid down for 2 more players as the A's smacked the Halos 10-1.
