Probably. The transfer better be DAMN good. Unfortunately, I don't think alot of people realize that just because a movie is labeled as "Blu-ray" doesn't mean it has Blu-ray-esque quality. Some transfers can be kick ass and some could suck ass. I'm sure with SPR though, they'll make sure to do it right.

I couldn't wait. As soon as I saw this link last night, I popped in my DVD and watched a little bit of it.

That movie will probably be shown from now until I don't know when in history classes to show how terrible Omaha Beach truly was, Hank's preformance in this was probably the best of his career, and you gave it to a Gwyneth Paltrow movie?

Also, I will be buying this when it comes out.

When you say you only watch movies in HD, are you talking DVD's on an HDTV or movie channels that are HD?

I know a couple of Direct TV's movie stations are 1080p, but other than that, nothing that I am aware of is.

Who is your sat provider? Not everyone (actually very few) broadcast in native 1080p. I believe Dish and DirectTV offer some 1080p PPV and VOD movies, but that's it. "Regular" movie channels like HBO, Cinemx, etc. are not shown in 1080p. The huge BluRay advantage is not only native 1080p but also 24 frames per second (exactly the rate as the original in-theater experience) as opposed to 60 fps that you get via HDTV.

As far as I know, film has pretty much infinite resolution. It can't be that difficult to take the master film and convert it to 1080p Blu-Ray.

You guys have sold me on this. I'm getting a new TV delivered this Monday, I'll start shopping for a blu-ray player now.

The LG's are a little more pricey, but they're the best I've found so far...

Got the LG590 and it's better than my Samsung...

But I should be fine with a $90-$100 one, no? I see some running upwards of $250. I mean, blu-ray is blu-ray, right?

The higher the price the more features it has on it...

Is a $100 one good enough? It depends...

IMO, the biggest thing to look for is the player profile...It should be a 2.0 or you're going to miss out on a lot of new disc features and newer upgrades in the future...

Make sure it's easy to download firmware to...Almost every year you need to make sure that your player is updated for the newer discs...

The new LG's have the audio (Dolby TruHD & DTS Master Audio) that I need for my system...They also are wirelessly connected to the internet for streaming and have a 250 hard drive for pictures/videos/downloads...the LG590, I picked up was $250 and worth every penny IMO...

Bottom line, if you want to pick up a cheap one then go for it...All you need is a 1080p TV and a solid surround system and you'll be satisfied, but I would make sure that it has 2.0 profile
