Explain.

Look at the graph. High point around 1990 is higher than the high point around 2000. The paper was published in 2008. Here's another graph. Jesus.

then logically that makes sense, but they paint a bad picture.

it'd be like saying the stock market sucks right now because in the last 18 months it is down. well thats not really painting an accurate picture. thats all im saying.

not sure what jesus has to do with this though.

Hoping for El Nino to lay down some big dumps in the mountains. After having the earliest ski season ever in the Denver area the snow has been scarce. Heard that El Nino brings more snow in Feb and March... looking good so far. 19" the last 7 days in Vail so things are looking up. Went last week on Thursday and had 4 inches of fresh powder, not much better than a weekeday powder day at Vail. Absolutely beautiful and you have it all to yourself. Looked around in several bowls and didnt see another soul.

Crazy storm moved in to Colorado this afternoon 7 inches so far since 4. My wife left work at 4:50, she is still on the highway. Apparently they just shut down the road after she hasnt moved in 3 hours. What a clusterfuck.

Anyone ever sit on a highway for 5 fucking hours?

Yes. Made the mistake of driving on I-81 through Bristol, TN on a NASCAR Sunday. RVs as far as the eye can see. (i realize this had nothing to do with weather)

if it makes any of you feel better I am going skiing tomorrow (and Breckenridge just got 16 inches in 48 hours) and then on Friday I am going to go golfing because it is going to be 60 in the Denver metro area. Skiing and Golfing with in one 24 hour period... not to mention hitting up the casino on the way back from skiing, is it quite possible I have found paradise?

Work at CSU and got an apartment in Cleve Heights.

Normally takes me 20 mintues to get home. Took me 3 1/2 hours tonight. Traffic was so backed up.

Why are the roads in Cleve so shitty but the road in Cleve Heights perfectly fine?

LMFAO

I'll bet Erie avgs 20" more snow a year than Cleveland and while they've been predicting it here the last two days by the foot, it hasn't snowed here all day. Not even a 1/4"
I have my upstairs office window open and I can hear cars drive by on the bare street.

I'm bummed, too

Just sold the 3/4 ton truck I've been driving around for 4 yrs and bought a new Jeep Wrangler Saturday.

I have to constantly be the stick in the mud when people start talking all this heavy snow shit. How the F long have you people lived in Cleveland? On the west side? Whenever they call for Lake Effect snow, if they mention anything on the west side, are right about 10% of the time.

I think the west side was supposed to get something over a foot on Monday/Tuesday... Monday morning rush hour was somewhat of an adventure, but here in Middleburg we maybe has a couple of flakes of that foot.

Hear the warnings about 5 days before the storm even approached. STFU already you morons. Look out the window you dumb mother fucker thats weather.

No shit. I grew up in Willoughby, right on the edge of the belt. I remember getting a lot of snow, but never remember it being a huge deal. You got off school and life went on.

Now I live in Avon and it's like fucking Bermuda compared. We don't get shit over here. But every time a storm might be coming it's like the damn apocalypse is upon us. It's like it's everyone's first winter in Cleveland.

Honest to God, the worst part of any snow storm now is the TV. If they aren't just busting in in the middle of a show I'm watching to give me the latest breaking news of snow in Cleveland, they are taking up half the screen with maps and tickers and blinking shit. And don't forget to have a loud beeping sound go off every 2 minutes in case I didn't notice all of that shit on the screen.

It's fucking ridiculous. Pisses me the hell off.

I better stop now before I start throwing shit.

Yeah the cable company buzzer sound and warning is becoming quite intrusive on my television watching. You can't even turn away from the shit... Every 2 minutes is just about correct.

Come visit the DC metro area in the winter. We're supposed to get 1-2 inches today. Inches, not feet. Most schools have closed just due to the forecast. It started snowing about an hour ago, and people just started getting up and leaving the office. People look at me like I'm crazy because I'm not wrapping stuff up to go home. I tell them I'm waiting till all of them are off the road so I don't have to deal with them.

No lie...all of the milk, bread and eggs are gone from every grocery store in town. Because of the forecast of 1-2 inches of snow. Absolutely unreal. It would be funny if it weren't so annoying.

My sister said they were reporting 25 foot waves on Lake Michigan crashing on to the road.

They need to stfu and grab a shovel like everyone else.

My kids are home for the second straight GD day. I'd gladly take a 25 foot high wall of water in the face as ooposed to dealing with these little witches who root like hell for a snow day, get it, cheer for 2 minutes and then bitch about being bored.

Goddamit I shoulda joined the service and avoided this domestic bliss.

I have to agree with the disgruntled motorists, what a disgraceful effort by the city. It is not easy for a city to deal with these types of things but for fucks sake they wanted people to stay in there cars, parked for 9-12 hours for safety? Who the hell came up with that idea? If traffic was moving let it continue to do so and just cut off further access to that route. As Nathan Jessup would say, they put people's lives in danger.

Meanwhile there was an amber alert in Cleveland for an entire fleet of plow trucks for the first 24 hours of this storm. BTW you know what they call a plow truck driving around without the plow engaged? A truck. Simple no excuse for cities in these inclement regions to not be ahead of the game as much as possible.

Meanwhile the sun is shining as I type this.

Ringing endorsement for children. I am going to have my wife read it slowly, over and over.

Just hoping she gets in to CU MBA program. That'd buy me 2.5 more years.

Coldest air in the DFW area in like 20 years. Windchills less than zero. Fuck this noise.

Danimal, landed Monday @ mid-continent about 5 and the blizzard of the century hit at 7. Was stuck in a Hampton inn in Wichita for 48 hours with nothing but their prefab breakfast and Subway in walking distance. Finally got out today at about noon. Grew up in NEO but this shit was banannas. It wasn't the 6 inches of snow, but the 40 MPH winds and zero degrees creating - 20 wind chill was the coldest I've ever been. Created no snow some places and 6 foot drifts with no warning others. Impossible to drive. Like running into a wall with almost no visibility. The good news is the Kid Rock show went on, apparently.

Anyway, war notebook PC's and cable TV.

Yeah, but this is Texas. We were parkas whenever the temperature gets below 85.

There were two delivery trucks stuck in the parking lot at my apt building this morning. About 30 cars backed up waiting to get out of the lot. Some of them were stopped on a hill and then when they were finally able to move they couldn't get up the hill. I ditched my car and walked to work (only about half a mile). Fell flat on my back in the middle of the road. Thought I had made it across the road at one point because I came to a 3-foot high drift but then realized this drift was in the middle of the road. I'm at work now and people are still showing up for their eye exams. WTF? You're risking your life to come get a routine eye exam?

I went to bed at 2am last night and it hadn't yet started snowing, so this shit came down real fast.

Rain will change to wet snow by late Thursday afternoon. Moderate to heavy is possible across parts of the watch area Thursday night and Friday morning. Some locations could receive 6 to 10 inches of wet snow by Friday evening with isolated higher amounts. The track and speed of the low will dictate where and how much snow will fall.

Yippee. More of the white shit.
