Bring on the Madness!

Unread postby comish » Thu Mar 18, 2010 11:21 am

My record posting picks has not been good over the years, but I figured I'll start throwing them out there anyway.

Next to Super Sunday these are by FAR my most favorite sports days of the year.

Thursday: (Going by the lines in the PD)

Florida +5
Notre Dame -2 1/2
Baylor -11
St Mary'a +1 1/2
Georgetown -13 1/2
Montana +9

Good Luck All

2-4

Pretty much knew how the whole day was going to go when Florida lost the cover in double OT. 1st round kills me every year.

Not to be daunted:
Temple - 3 1/2
Siena +4 1/2
Texas A&M -3
New Mexico St +13 1/2
Houston +9 1/2
Louisville +1

Comish, good news and bad news, depending on your take.

Bad news is Lead Man is against you on sme of these games. Good news is (as peeker can atest to) LP came out of the box steamin' like a pot full of clams as he had BYU, ODU, Murray State, St. Mary's and Washington last night for a 5-0 SWEEP. Plus chopped a poker tournament on the same night. That's good for you because you might feel he'll cool off today. We'll see.

Anyways, I believe Purdue is the best wager of the entire first round. This is not last year's Siena squad. You've got a team that was in the conversation to cut down the nets a few short weeks ago against a MAAC squad that was blown out on the road against Georgia Tech, Butler and Northern Iowa. Not in the game against step up competition. And the difference in the athletes, even minus Hummell, is downright alarming. Never a sure thing, but Purdue minus 4 here is an excellent wager ILO.

Also, like an excellent defense against one of the worst defenses in the tourney, who had to extend themselves with 4 games in 4 days in the conference tournament win. Maryland -9.

Also, Gonzaga has entered the realm of high public profile in the tourney, drawing square public money, thus laying value to the sharps. Notice late line movement today. This is the sharps lying in the weeds to see how much money the general public was going to donk off. Lead Man has FSU -1,lie moving back and forth. A tug of war now between late sharp money and the general public.

Going with Michigan State just because I believe they are going to blitzkreig that squad out of the gym.

Lesser wagers, just for a litle action's sake throughout the day, a couple dogs in Vermont and Wofford.

Good luck players!

Thanks for the heads up, Lead, I've seen your runs before and know they are a force to be reckoned with.

The Florida game was brutal
Harangody KILLED the Damers with his no show...sigh.

I kind of agree with you on Houston-Maryland....might just be a no play for me, but I'll leave it up on here just for fun.

I was eye-balling Florida St too.

GL as always.

Might need you to bail me out after my flameout in round 1 :salute:

No money lines Rob. Not sure what to make of 11 & 13 seeds being inside of a two point dog in those games, other than the comittee mis-seeding some squads. I any event, there was more value in having them in your 6-team extravaganza than the money lines.

First off, if there are more than two people in the room, all of them will be hearing Lead's sweep. He wasn't exactly shy about mentioning it as the night wore on. :nanner:

And Lead and his brother split that 6-School entry so maybe he'll only talk only half as loud on that one? ;-) ;)

I've had

UNI +1
Marquette -2
Xavier -1
New Mex St +13
Notre Dame -3.5
Nova-RMU u147

Thinking UNI +12 today and UNM +120. I just like the value on New Mexico

Lead, you are very good at your picks and very, very lucky as well...

Still had 30 pts left with 5 minutes to go...Boils keep making easy 2's and then fouling Dook...Saw that disappear quickly and then with 35 ticks left, PUR finally realizes that they're not gonna catch em and decides not to foul anymore after they were doing it for the past 3 minutes...Thought it was gonna be a heartbreaker

Nice win Bud

Yeah, lock with 5 to go....then Duke keeps making both from the stripe and allowing uncontested lay-ups on the other end. 10 more seconds on the clock and that's a loss.

Anyway, 4.5 points is too many for the Bulldogs. Lotta energy spent by KSU in the double OT thriller, and only a day to come down. Butler knows how to win. Not getting enough value on the Butler moneyline, so LP is on Butler +4.5.

Let's continue the roll this weekend.

Vegas has been swinging and missing with Baylor all season long. It's like Russell Branyan is setting their lines. 5 points is too much. Lead Man on the Bears.

By the way, about 600 times today you're going to here that Duke is laying the best defense in the country. To their credit they ARE playing very well. But Christ, the defensive display Butler is putting on....can't quite say I remember much like it - especially when you take in to account they have no size and aren't really that athletic.

What a coach.
