Things To Do In Columbus

Hey, I am heading down to Columbus on April 4th to see Ovechkin and the Capitals fight the Blue Jackets. Scored awesome club seats for 70% off.

Besides grabbing a burger at Thurmans as we always do, my buddy and I are looking for some places to see or things to do to kill some time before the game. Been to the Shoe and around the OSU campus but am open to any suggestions. If anyone has some suggestions, it would be appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Shit. When we spilt up the season tickets I took Pittsburgh and my buddy got the Caps or else i'd be there.

Check out Huntington Park, the home of the Clippers, friggin incredible.

If you're going to drink near the Arena District, avoid Frog Bear Saloon. Brothers is great, so is Gaswerks (friday and saturday they have $1 bombs).

What else are you looking for, you're going to hockey game for fuck's sake?

If you want offical gear and not knock offs, try Tuttle Crossing Mall. They have a Sears and JC Penny, plus there's also a Blue Line in there. Oh and sometimes the Buckeye Corner has some good deals, but i'm not sure if they're still open.

How much time are you looking to kill?

Located in the hoopie heaven part of C-bus.

If you grew up in the 70's or 80's, especially frequenting the Euclid Square mall, this is a living pice of Americana. It's like running into a passenger pidgeon.

I literally live right across the street from the danube. absolutly awesome and underrated place. Another thing would be City BBQ its up 350 a little bit but is the best place in cbus.

Bars....anywhere in the arena district its awesome.

Then again its awesome for students like myself, who knows if you old folks will like it.

Going way off topic, indulge me...

The 'Dube is my one "must have" when visiting C-bus, low-key bar with better than average low-price grub. BUT, I was sorely disappointed when I went in two years ago to find they had replaced their awesome CD jukebox with one of those touch-screen "top hit only" pieces of crap that plays 2 songs for a buck. Unless you want search for a song you actually want to hear, then it's a full $1 for one play.

I know, "get off my lawn." I'm old and hate new things. But really- a jukebox with 100 full length CD's and variety of good albums that plays 3 or 4 songs for $1 is what makes a guy like me a regular. It's why I loved the 'Dube.

I'll patronize any bar that gives the local distributor the finger and maintains their own jukebox. Was a regular at a nasty Euclid bar (the LT) that actually let me and my buds pick the CD's in the juke. We asked the other regulars for input, put in the CD order, and played the hell out of that thing every night. It was awesome.

Couldn't agree more, Cease. Those new jukeboxes suck. When I'm at the bar I'm invariably looking for something I like on an album and it's very rarely to 1 or 2 huge hits that a band has and you've heard a million times.

I freakin' love Pearl Jam, but whenever I search those boxes they usually have one song...Jeremy. Not that Jeremy's bad, it's just...wtf man?

I hate those things. Always a letdown.

Just looking to kill 5 or 6 hrs depending on when we get up and head down. I am all for a few drinks but want to keep it in check with the drive home and all that night. Thanks for the info, I will be sure to hit up those stores before heading downtown to see Huntington Park and Thurmans.

Heard good things about Brothers from others as well so we will probably stop there as well. Any thoughts on Barley's Brewing?

Barley's is a nice place and their other place (Barley's Smokehouse)is only a few miles from Nationwide. Great beer selection and really good food.
