Apparently you aren't allowed to have your picture taken with your arms outstretched anymore for fear that Christians might think you're trying to resemble the crucifixion. If I were Lohan I'd go after the Christians for every passage in the Bible where women are treated as less than men, so pretty much the whole f'ing book. Personally I think she looks more like Cate Blanchett's character from Lord of the Rings.

No offense, but 90% of the time when there is "outrage" over something that offends Christians it is bullshit. Fake hype to draw attention to someone's product.

In this case, if you follow the links, the "outrage" came from two comments on the US Weekly website. Really? That's what qualifies as a controversy now?

Don't fall for this bullshit marketing campaign that hopes to make Lindsey Lohan relevant again.

The Christians complaining about this can eat a fat one. Besides if there is a heaven Lindsey Lohan sure as hell not getting in so they have nothing to worry about.

People are nuts, go check out the Tebow thread and read up on the liberals and pro abortion people were up in arms over a differing opinion. We have free speech in this country, just don't use it to be controversial or oppose someone's views.
In the end, we're all "only for a limited time," you guys.

Yeah, I'm sure it'd be devastating for Christians to have a carpet-munching, drug-abusing tramp "go after them."

The Bible doesn't treat women half as shabbily as "LiLo" has treated herself.

Bill Donohue makes his living getting offended by crap like this. In his mind, the Catholic priest scandal wasn't damaging to Catholicism, but crap like this is.

I would love to hear Lohan's interpretation of the piece as an artist. Probably a self-centered vision of how the press has castigated her. The same press that allows her to stay relevant by giving a story like this more coverage than it deserves.

It's a fashion magazine. A French fasion magazine.

What do these idiots expect? Norman Rockwell? I wonder what they would think about this cover?

Blaming the Bible for how women were treated thousands of years ago is like blaming history books for killing off all native americans and stealing their land.

Thousands of years ago women were treated like they were less than. 60 years ago women were treated like they were less than. I'm not saying it's right. I'm just saying, don't blame Christians for how the majority of the worlds population viewed women up to a couple decades ago. Holy shit.

I am a Christian and I do NOT get offended when someone doesn't believe what I believe but I can't stand it when peoples reasons for bashing Christians is something ridiculous like "The Bible treats women bad". I could really give a rats ass what you believe. Just don't come to me with that nonsense.

Back on topic, a fake Christian would freak out about Lohan posing like that. A real Christian would ask if there was anyway they could help her stop whoring around and doing drugs if she indeed wanted to change. If she didn't, they would walk away and that would be the end of it.

Women were so looked down upon 60 years ago that their very word could get a black man beaten, shot, hung from a tree and burned to a crisp. That's how low of a regard women were held in.

Interesting use of the transitive property here. Nice to see it somewhere other than a BQ vs. DA thread. ;-) ;)

Although I fail to see how blacks being treated deplorably means women weren't. Not that I really give a shit about this thread in general or sensitive people particularly. :nanner:

Blacks or women?

Relax Herm. I wasn't around back then so I'll take your word for it. ;-) ;)

Just don't suggest too many books for me to read on the subject because I'm currently wrapped up in one that tells me the Holocaust never happened: http://www.amazon.com/Hoax-Twentieth-Ce ... 091103823X

Maybe treated poorly is too broad. I'll go with that at one time women were social and legal subordinates to their men.

Wow, changing the train line from yellow to gold because it goes to where asians live.

If i were in charge, I would have answered the asian's protests by ordering the train to drive at 5 mph with its blinker on.

If anything Christians are the ones being persecuted in public but, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists are always protected in the media because of political correctness or because its not popular/funny to attack there religion/ideals.

I'll start by saying I have no problem with the picture. What she does has nothing to do with my faith.

However, did you miss the crown of thorns on her head? Its OBVIOUS that it she is depicting the crucifixion.

Right, Christians aren't being allowed to pratice their faith without being persecuted. It's not even safe for Christians to go to church with all the persecutin' goin on. They can't walk down the street without fear. Christ on a teeter totter, do you know what persecution means?

And once it again it's the big bad media's fault. They just hate those Christians, so they have Lindsay Lohan pose like Jesus in some shit magazine.

Maybe someone should start a poll thread to discuss which gender, race, or religion were persecuted more 60 years ago.

Tough one. Probably regional. Chicanos out west (the 1940's zuit suite riots were a bitch on them) , African-Americans in the deep south east, and Indians in the flat midwest.
