The waiters do that at Ruth's Cris?

I'm with Lee in hating you as much as humanly possible at the moment.

Why do you do this? Unfazed by last year?

I don't hate you. I just think you're not very bright.

Why is Billick promoting the killing of lions anyway? And in a cage? Jeez... hardly seems fair.

Just sayin', if you have to kick any doors in when you're looking to kill a lion you're not much of a sportsman. And if you have access to lions in a cage that you're looking to kill, why take a spear? You've already basically removed any chance the lion had.

You might as well just sedate it and shoot it with a .10gauge.

I bet Billick's never been near a lion, (other than Detroit) caged or otherwise. And if he has, and he's going in kicking down doors with a spear, I find him to be too stupid to rely on in terms of how to actually go about it.

I can go on and fillibuster this bitch myself if the need arises.

Sorry. I'm not Soul Dawg.

Look, God doesn't care who wins or whether anyone plays their best, and I don't influence the outcomes of games.

This is the ride I've been waiting for my whole entire life. Well, other than the Tribe in 1995. Ooops.

I will bite no nails on the way to the coronation. This team will play .800 ball the scond hhalf of the season, Powe an Mo will return and they will go "fo, fo, fo" to the Finals where a tired & beat down lake Show gives it up smooth.

Then Bron re-ups. The NY teams are a freaking joke and he's about titles.

The dynasty is just getting started.

If anything of this nature is an obstacle for a Cleveland team winning, it's the opposite attitude of what JB is displaying. Cast off your fear and stand confidently the way champions do. The past is behind us, even the recent wounds of 2005, 2007, and 2009. Stand up and tell Jobu to eff himself again. For LeBron, all things are not only possible, but inevitable.

Why else would he be so happy go lucky all the time? Dude does not reside in the space-time continuum, but rather stands astride the sands of time themselves and already has seen the multitude of titles yet to come.

This. Take the pill that shows you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

I'm tired of being afraid of failure as a C-Town fan. But in order to not be afraid of failure, I have to open myself up to the possibility of disappointment. I have to cast aside all defense mechanisms and accept the full impact of this team's ultimate fate, whether positive or negative. That's the toughest battle our scarred Cleveland psyches have to fight.

But it's the difference between cheering to win and cheering not to lose.

Jobu is reminding me this is all banking on the health and virility of Shaq and the adaptability of Mike Brown, but I went for C anyways. What Cass said and I'm just not seeing anything in our way just yet.

I'm not a fatalist. I don't believe in Curses. I don't believe in moons and goochers, that's baby stuff.

But I'll believe it when I'm at the rally listening to Delonte at the dais spouting God-knows-what. ;-) ;)

I do know that we have a hell of a team. And we have as good a shot as we've ever had.

It's just hard to even imagine a Cleveland Championship, let alone expect one.

I'm down for the ride, though, that's fer sure.

I'm with this.

I'm busting JB's balls because, after a few other things, it's my favorite past time, but it certainly ain't words, thoughts and mysticism that's going to determine what happens in June.

I'll be more confident if we are playing this well in a month, but I am not just along for the ride I am feeling this team is real strong right now.

OK, if you don't like Billick, how about the Prez?

We can't be consumed by our petty differences any more. We will be united in our common interest. Perhaps it's fate that today is the 14th of June, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom. Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution, but from annihilation. We're fighting for our right to live, to exist and should we win the day, the 14th of June will no longer be known as a day we choked, but as the day when Cleveland declared in one voice, 'We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on, we're going to survive.' Today we celebrate our Championship!"

All you peeps joining the JB camp may want to ask yourselves, just how many times has JB done this only to have acid spit back in his face?

JB has single handily called more major sports blow backs then even FUDU. JoBu smells Eminem's excitement from a mile away (can I say that or is that racial).

Hey, I'm in your camp on the whole issue, FTR.

But there is just no reason to set yourself up for this again.

Definitely. I can't imagine not winning a championship this year would be any more or less disappointing depending on how confident I felt about our chances from now until the season ends however it's going to end.

In the meantime, it feels much better for sure knowing that we've got at least as good a chance as ever in my lifetime at winning it all than it does worrying about how and why it might not happen (again) this year. Enjoy the ride!

It's ours to lose

I know I'm stupidly and naively disregarding the defending Champs but this team is playing the best basketball right now and looks untouchable in a 7 game set

Emphasis is mine. Right now, the Cavs look untouchable. Right now isn't the playoffs. D's definition as "winning an NBA Championship is harder than most think" makes it the best answer to the question. An NBA Championship is incredibly difficult. A million things can go wrong. For all the champs the league has had, there's at least three other teams that season who were convinced that it was their year.

To say there's no chance is even worse than to assume it's a inevitability. There is no destiny, for good or bad. There is only a lot of hard work, a little bit of luck, and a lot more hard work, spread over the process of months, weeks, days, and even minutes and individual possessions on the court. Do I think this team has the necessary talent and focus to win it all? Absolutely. But winning an NBA Championship is harder than most think.

But I think in basketball especially the team that has shown itself to be the best throughout the regular season very often wins the title.

LA last year, Boston a year prior, San An all those times. They were undoubtedly the best in the league.

In baseball the playoffs are almost a lottery, anything really can happen.
You can win 120 games a season and still not come close to the Championship (see Seattle Mariners 2001 and ok it was 116 wins not 120 before anyone splits hairs)

in basketball when you're better than the opposing team 95% of the time you will win. Especially come playoff time, although there are the occasional aberrations like Golden State

I'm booking the entire EC Finals and NBA Finals off work

even if it means some days of unpaid holiday

Good thing is I work 4 days on 4 days off so 8 days taken holiday gives me 3 weeks off work

If that's the way you think, why bother?

It never ceases to mystify me why people waste their time on this when they won't even allow the possibility of something positive happening.

Bravo. A completely lucid take in an otherwise irrational thread.

Except the '75 Warriors really were the best team. Pay no mind to the W/L record.

Calling a title shot in Cleveland is like calling for snow in Florida. Most of the time you'll look like an idiot, occasionally you might be close, and once every hundred years or so you'll actually be right.

I'm not holding my breath but I sure am enjoying the ride. Absolutely LOVE this team.

Gotta reach back what, 35 years to find that example Jesse? Kind of proves a point rather trhan refutes. That was a team that found itself late. Rick Berry that year was still one of the best I've seen in The Finals.

Exactly. The best team usually wins. Those Warriors had the best player on the floor, by far the superior bench and just as much big-game experience. You win a series 4-0, even as close as those games were, you're the better team. You look at the other "big upset" of that era, the Blazers over the Sixers in '77, it was the same way. Portland was just better than Philadelphia.

Not many true upsets in this game. Either the supposedly inferior team isn't, or at the very least it has significant and concrete match-up advantages, example of the latter being the 40-42 Rockets team that knocked off the Showtime Lakers in the '81 miniseries b/c they controlled the tempo w/Moses Malone, who Kareem couldn't check.

Remember when the Sox got the monkey off their back? Imagine the streets of Cleveland if we do win.

False. Acquiring the "local hero" who also happens to be the best player in the league (and having a strong start towards best ever) and also not winning the title trumps missing on LBJ completely.

This is one of the very few scenarios in which it's advantageous to be a Cleveland fan, that is, someone trying to put the maloika on you.

for Christ sake, what heartbreaking end could befall the Cavs that I haven't already seen. Late fumbles and 99 yard drives, bottom of the World Series 9th, the establishment of the greatest player in the world at the expense of Ehlo.

I'm ready for it, it won't suprise me, therefore no such thing as a jinx in this town.
