Not PC, but I also feel that most people who use the world "gay" or "retard" aren't actually using them in that way.

I agree that a blanket "that's retarded" or "he's retarded" is not socially acceptable. It's a say at your own risk phrase. Say it if you want, but don't be surprised if you hurt somebody's feelings with it. Whether you give a shit about their hurt feelings is your deal.

My Jewish buddy calls me a "dumb kraut sasquatch" all the time, so I like to get his attention by rubbing two pennies together. I say offensive shit, it's just not a big deal to me.

I understand where you're coming from. To be honest, I don't really concern myself with what's socially acceptable. Now that doesn't mean I go walking down the street yelling "retard" or what not. At home with my friends we say some of the most awful things to each other, then we laugh about it. I agree with it being uncouth in a public setting. Was it said in a public setting?
Is schizophrenia considered a form of retardation?
Do you think Rahm should lose his job over this?

Mental illness isn't the same as retarded.
Rahm just needs to tell Palin she's F'n retarded.

Because I thought you were the biggest dick here. The biggest dick would have kept it.

Thinking is always your first mistake and you should be advised that the smell of your burning flesh preceded your post by 24 hrs...
I was under the impression that TO BE the Biggest Dick here one would have to be voted upon and appointed and crowned by the class
In my case I just hold title of 'having' the biggest dick
...any event, I'm surprised that one so easily offended saw such promise in what I edited out just to be a nice guy and palcate politically correct sissies like yourself
Hope that helps

Lewis Black came on and pimped his "tard strong" bracelet. Stewart killed Palin for her "palm pilot" (which, by the way, if she gets RNC nod, will be a comic gold mine as she is a moron). Great stuff.
As to the gay/ retard thing, it's a daily struggle to correct adolescents when they use those terms. Nearly impossible. While I personally use these terms to describe lame and stupid (respectively) things or people, never at school. It's so pervasive that most kids don't even know they said anything offensive, and get pissed when I correct them.

2 or 3 times a class, at least for the first 3 months. Then they start to remember what is or isn't acceptable in my class. But they use it in other classes, because they will say things like "man, you're gaaaaaa.... oops, sorry, I thought I was in another class".
