Bought my first case of High Life Camo cans today. Fall is here.

Ahh... the camo cans. A hunter's delight. Though for camo cans, it doesn't get better than Busch. Camo looks like real trees and branches (not the army camo) and even has Busch in neon orange lettering so you're sure not to shoot it. This is in no way an endorsement for Busch.



I myself had a couple Carlsberg's this weekend. Pretty good.

Don't know if I saw this on here. Used to be a badge of honor to walk around with a 12 of this crap for $2.99. I think the generic beer was better. Incidentally I was 3 freaking months from making it when Ohio switched to 21 and all the 19s were grandfathered. That was tough watching all my buds legally go to bars, while I had to pretend or not be allowed in.

I was legal at least for the 6 mos. I was in Colorado to drink 3.2 beer (circa 88). Since I'd done about two months of no beer with basic training, the 3.2 ended up being better than nothing. I even had some 21+ friends who'd just drink the 3.2 all day so us younguns wouldn't get nailed by MPs.




While I was in Scotland I had a bunch of BudVar I thought it was called? Czech beer, supposed "budweiser" of Czech Rep. Great stuff. For the Czech beer aficianado do I have the name correct?

Yeah Budvar (which is what it's called in Europe/UK) isn't owned by Anheuser Busch. It's a take off of beer brewed in the Budweis area of Bohemia in the late 1700's. You can sometimes find here in Whole Foods stores under the name Czechvar (they can only sell it here and Canada under than name due to a copyright agreement) it's really overpriced , like most things from Whole Foods. You can order it from a few places online under the Czechvar name.

Grabbed a bottle of Arrogant Bastard and a 4 of the Sam Adams Imperial White on lunch today, thanks to you guys above. IIRC, I had the Arrogant Bastard a while back, when I was a much more novice beer drinker, so I'm pretty happy to be trying it again. And you can't go wrong with a 10% Sam Adams, so tonight should be fun.

Love Woodchuck Cider, so I tried a Woodchuck Fall Cider just now. Similar to the original, but a pretty strong aftertaste...kinda cinnamon and nutmeg? Not sure how I feel about it...good, but too much of an aftertaste to drink more than 1 or 2. Woodchuck's are a little too sweet, in general, to drink a sixer...but if I make it to Fox and Hound or somewhere else with it on tap, it's almost a must for me.

I mean, the Sam is alright, roles close to equal to Dogfish Head 90.

As for Arrogant Bastard, I drink it 5-6 times a year. It is what it is, a fun booze that kicks you in the effing face w/ its flavor and its potency. It is a hard stuck up angry thing to drink, I enjoy it as do many others, but it is not for the light at heart.

I'd compare it as a beer to jack as a bourbon.

Okay, gross, potent, smooth, etc, all mixed up in one kick to the face.

It's amazing that one small brewery can have so many incredible beers. And be right here in Cleveland. All bull shit aside, and I've drank my share of beer over the last 15 years, all of these brews are amongst the best 15-20 I've had in my life (in this order) ...

1. Christmas Ale - Is there anything better in life than getting shitfaced out of your mind off 4 Christmas Ales on a Saturday night with the tree on and a great college football game on the tube? Cinnamon, honey, ginger .... deliciously potent, and as much a part of my holiday season as the Browns and Santa Claus anymore. November 3rd. It arrives once again. Even the hangover is good with this beer.

2. The Commodore Perry IPA - On potency alone, edges out Burning River Pale Ale for the 2 hole. 7.5%. Its like drinking wine. But at the speed at which you drink a beer. I love hops, and they are as present in this beer as any. If I drink 6 Miller Lites 5 nights a week, the wife starts to call me an alc. But 2 Commodore Perrys? No way. She dont know the 2 Commodore Perry buzz is better.

3. Burning River Pale Ale - The fact this beer is just the 3rd best from this brewery tells you all you need to know. Im a pale ale guy, and this is as good a pale ale as exists.

4. Dortmunder Gold - My pre Cavs and Indians game beer when downtown before a game. Consume so much of it in those settings that I'll usually line the shelves of my fridge with one of the three above.

5. Holy Moses White Ale - Good, lighter summer beer. Great for the back patio with a cigar and the Tribe game on the radio.

6. Conways Irish Ale - A very malty, very tasty Irish Ale. 7.0% alcohol IIRC.

7. Blackout Stout - Potent, heavy, dark, hoppy beer. Will swill these occasionally in the winter, rarely in the summer.

8. The Eliot Ness - Not one of my favorite Great Lakes, but still an excellent Amber beer.

You're making me miss Cleveland. Been to long (more than a year) since I've been back.

If you drank 100 different beers (they generally carried ~250 different bottles at any given time) within a year, you got your name on the wall and a t-shirt. Not hard, but expensive and most of the beers were pretty strong and generally larger than 12 oz.

Skullsplitter may have been amongst the 10 worst that I had. Tasted like beef jerky, if I remember correctly.

Stone is solid. I'll tell ya the best thing, at the beer store near me you can grab 6 pack make your own samplers for 7.99 I think I have now tried every IPA in the west. Commodore is certainly intense, I started out with it on NYE and quickly had to make a switch in order to prolong my night.
