Neat. There is nothing wrong with corporately created art/music, per se, the problem is that it generally ends up being a bucket of lukewarm spit in its effort to be profitable, and therefore appeal to as wide a group of people as possible. Same reason good local restaurants are always superior to chains, or a good independent coffee place puts Starbucks et al to shame.
That doesn't mean that these things can't be good for what they are, ie: consistent, reliable, dependable if almost never great. Nor does it mean that a corporate artistic creation can't achieve real greatness, just that it is difficult.
All that said, umm... it's not like it is being revealed that, say, Radiohead (just to use an example of a current act that I consider sublime/timeless) was put together in a boardroom. It's Andrew WK. I am not shocked at all.
