best music of the aughts

Three things:

1)lists like this are the best part of living at the end of decades
2)lists like this are why the internet was invented
3)this is not a bad list

Three more things:

1) I haven't heard of a lot of that stuff, which either means I'm not hip enough or they're too hip for their own good (probably a combination of the two).

2) They did a good job overall, I think, sticking to 00s' artists instead of 90s artists who spilled over into the 00s--the kind of thing that'd be very tempting for a Gen X'er to do when looking back over the 00s.

3) Two glaring omissions, however: Jill Scott & Gnarles Barkley. (They could have at least gone with the Danger Doom CD instead of Madvillainy to credit Danger Mouse indirectly)
Q: What is the best/craziest location you've ever gotten lucky A: Mens room. Death Valley. (Fire Marshall Bill, 08/13/10)

...doesn't mean we cannot call you a spade when you are one. (donnyunitas, 10/21/09)

Plus it's kinda personal for me... I have a lot of family and friends who are Ducks... (angrybeaver, 11/08/09)

sounds like these folks made the list up:

Yeah, it's pretty bad that over 90% of that list I've either never bought their record or even heard of them. I'm not an indie fan (with a few exceptions for a couple of Incubus songs etc), so I could be bias on that.

White Stripes at Numero Uno speaks volumes about how Mediocre music was this decade. I don't see that album really standing the test of time, like say, how "Dark side of the moon" did in the 70's, or "Joshua Tree" (hopefully saying that won't lure the Phist out of lurking) did in the 80's.

Good list.

Not a big White Stripes fan, but I'm glad Radiohead wasn't #1.

Wow. I read that list and before I read everyone's comments on here I was thinking:

'Man I have heard of maybe 10 out of the 50 on this list and 8 of them is because at least one of the singles was on Rock Band'.

I was feeling pretty lame but now after reading the responses before mine I feel a bit better.

Nah, I'm still lame..... :bag:

If you havent heard some of these records yur really missing out. For many, I wish I got to listen to them again for the first time. To hear these records for free all you have to do is sign up on lala.com and you can stream them. Its a legit website so you don't have to worry about illegal downloading issues.
