I saw it. Boonie looks like a completely different player early on. I hope the patience the Indians have shown with him pays off this season. He has a $3.75M option for next season, could he be the backup plan at 2B if Belliard bolts?
Anyway, what is that like 3 hits in 5 at bats for Boone? Wedge sending Boone for a SB? Casey Blake with a 2-out RBI? Grady with a keep 2-out RBI as well? Is the apocolypse coming?
Oh, and ouch. Thome is in for a big season. Strictly being used as a DH, I see no reason he can't stay healthy.

This is more like it, 5-1 w/ no outs in the 5th.
Didnt Garcia own us last season?
(ps: fuck Thome)

Okay...this is insane.
He's 3-3 with 3 RBIs. Just hit a huge 2 out, 2 run double.

Boone will be playing for his job all year. He better keep hitting or he will be on the bench watching Marte play. It is nice to have a little depth at the position.
Sabathia should have hit Thome his first time up to the plate. This would have been one positive from Monday's game. [/quote]

In one game, Boone pretty much outshined his entire 2005 season.
I still wonder if Boone rebounds, if he just may be the 2B next year. Belliard, if he plays to his 2004 and 2005 season performance, should command a per year salary of around $5-7M in the offseason. Boone has an option for $3.75M, and Shapiro for whatever reason loves him.
