Please let it be so

I FINALLY saw Pavlik/Miranda last night. Was out of town when it went down initially.

What a fight.

Man, Pavlik, local ties aside is a very easy guy to like. A throwback. Runs to the ring while his opponents take 8 minute strolls accompanied by live acts. Aggressive, old school, takes the action to the opponent. Fights very entertaining fights. He just keeps hitting you, adeptly with both hands, and from all different angles.

I loved what he said in the interview with Merchant after the fight.

"He hit me really good a couple times in the 1st round, and when he didn't hurt me, you could see in his eyes he was defeated right there. My plan was to stay aggressive and keep him moving backward, where he isn't effective. The media made this guy, I knew I could beat him. On TV, my punches don't look like they pack a wallop, but once you get in the ring with me, it doesn't take long to realize I can hit."

According to Pavlik's website the fight is on.
He is also throwing out the 1st pitch at the Tribe game tomorrow.

Man, everybody loves this guy. I don't even follow boxing, and I want to watch this guy's next fight.

I know boxing's in bad shape, and in real danger of being passed up by UFC (if it hasn't been already)...but is this a guy that can save boxing? I know he's a middleweight and not a heavyweight, and heavyweight supposed to be the glory division but I haven't heard a bad thing about him yet, from anybody (not just locals).

I don't think any 1 fighter can save boxing. The problems with boxing stem from
1. even crappy fights are on PPV
2. there are too many belts and organization which makes it inaccessible for the fans.

There is definitely no lack of personality or good fighters, especially in the lighter divisions.

Pavlik is very fun to watch fight. He's so active. He's like Taylor used to be before he got the belts. Hopefully Pavlik will bring out the best in Jermain and it will be a very fast paced fight.

It should be a good fight. Taylor will have to come to fight, Pavlik's style will make him.
As far as the saving boxing comment, I agree with the fact that no one guy can do it unless there was a Buster Douglas over Tyson upset.
But seeing the heavyweight division is garbage already, that won't happen.
In the UFC, you have the top guys fighting each other. In boxing, well, who knows what the hell is going on.

I will say, in boxing, the fights we all want to see have actually been happening more as of late.

The heavyweight division is still garbage, but aside from that, boxing is as healthy as it has been in the last 5-6 years in my view. There's just so many good fighters right now from like 156-182 lbs.

I can't wait for Pavlik/Taylor.

The fight is signed.

Sportsbook.com has the odds at:
Taylor -115
Pavlik -115

Dr.

That said HBO W C Boxing. I saw no PPV mentioned. It looks like I can correctly assume that it's on plain, old HBO?

HBO, no pay per view from everything I have seen.
I honestly don't think it's a big enough fight for PPV and glad to see that HBO got it right.
There have been, and still will be, too many average fights for $50 a pop.

Jermain's last five fights or so have been really boring. Can't imagine he's all that marketable right now.
