Amazing that this school cannot attract any talent. Great arena, alot of good local basketball talent in this area.
I used to always go to at least 1-2 CSU games a year back in the late 90s. But the product has been simply unwatchable for the better part of the last 8-10 years.

Garland to resign at Cleveland State
Friday, March 31, 2006
Joe Maxse
Plain Dealer Reporter
Mike Garland is expected to resign today as Cleveland State men's basketball coach.
According to a source familiar to the CSU program, Garland will announce his decision to his players dur ing a meeting. Neither Garland nor CSU Athletic Director Lee Reed immediately returned phone calls to The Plain Dealer.
The Vikings went 10-18 this season, their third straight losing mark under the former Michigan State assistant. CSU went 4-25 and 9-17 during Garland's first two seasons for a combined 23-60 record.
CSU has not had a winning season since the 2000-01 campaign when the Vikings went 19-13 under Rollie Massimino.
The Vikings have not been to the NCAA Tournament in 20 years and have not won a game in the Horizon League Tournament in five years.
Garland, 51, was an assistant at MSU under coach Tom Izzo for seven seasons.
Garland had two years remaining on his CSU contract. Terms of his resignation were unknown.

He did seem to have the program going in the right direction, the problem is that too many people want results NOW.

Interesting ... PD reports today that CSU is on the verge of hiring former Kent State coach Gary Waters, who spent the last 4 years at Rutgers.

It is not very often I will compliment the CSU athletic department, but this is a very good hire. Waters can coach, and seems to excel with underdogs. The Rutgets program is light years ahead of where they were when he arrived.
