Best original/remake combo

I think we've covered the worst botched versions, what about the best of?

What are the best, based on either the song (the meaning and/or musical value) or the quality of the duplication of the original.

I'll start with these two.

Buffalo Springfield "For What It's Worth"


Public Enemy "He Got Game"

Edited to add I disagree that the "re-make" needs to "duplicate" the original. That's what tribute bands are for. The cover should honor the original with a different, creative interpretation.

I don't think it was too difficult to get the point cover, remake sample etc. While not PE biggest fan they SAMPLED the song very very well, with an interesting message much like the interesting message of the times from the original.

Which is why I stated to base it on one of a few things. Some artist just duplicate a song and if they do it right it sounds great. Others add their own style or sound to the exact same song and it works and yet others just take bits and pieces of a song and make it work in another way, as bowow so quickly pointed out.

I personally like samplings if the new song has a message or a great sound, it is when the new song doesn't have a good message or has a lame sound when I hate sampling artists.
