I really like how this trailer starts, like a documentary. I'm extremely excited for this movie, and I only heard about it about an hour ago.

ok this is the first i've ever heard of this. i have absolutely no idea whats going on. why is the "alien's" face blurred out? wtf is this about? the only thing i can infer is that since Peter Jackson is doing it, it must be long, drawn out, and incredibly boring

A sci fi movie that isn't based around special effects, but instead has an interesting plot?

This is the 00's, damnit.

Maybe it's just me, but I long ago lost interest in pretty much all the big summer explosion extravaganzas unless it is something I already had an attachment to (Transformers, even though the movie was as boring as any of the other ones). It's just the same thin gruel over and over again. Hopefully this is a return to what the sci fi genre used to be.

Unfortunately, this trailer scares me because it appears that this film has no plot. Or maybe they just don't want to release/show too much. I like to think that's the case. Also, the effects look subpar. Yikes.

Regardless, I'm still going to see it. Sure looks like a film based on racism, but with a sci-fi edge to it.

Looks like this will be the next film I go out and see, giving me two worth watching in August (Inglorius Basterds being the other).

Just reading the basic premise, replacing time-travelers with aliens, it sounds a lot like the South Park episode where THEY TOOK 'ER JOOBBBBS!




I'm sure it will be more in depth than that, just a first impression.

Add original sci-fi flick with likable (and very dislikable) characters and a great story.

Just came back from seeing it again. District 9 certainly has everything, from drama to humor to action, but really hits home on its deeper meaning... scratch that -- deeper meanings.

Anybody who doesn't find this film moving is intellectually limited and should be offed from existence immediately.

But don't be fooled. I may have this viewpoint, but I'm no Ebenezer Scrooge. I'm one of the most fun-loving, sensitive, most humble guys you'll ever meet. I just truly believe it's GOOD to realize and to embrace that truth. The truth that we are the most dangerous things on this planet. Ironic, we have the largest brain capacity by far compared to all the other living creatures here, so much potential to move forward, but progress is halted by our own agendas, fueled by greed, lust, and my favorite part... money. Everything is all about money. Here's a little secret I have for the world; money doesn't really exist. It's imaginary. We made it up. So, while we fight with each other back and forth constantly (emphasis on with each other) over something like money, (entering "hippie" mode) others that inhabit this planet have to suffer, and there's nothing they can do about it. That's just one example. One giant example.

Saw this movie based on all the great reviews... but was pretty disappointed.

It had an original idea but the script seemed half-baked to me. Maybe with some better writing this could have been good movie, but there were some awful plot holes and some pretty bad writing... ie "I told you I could get us in, I never said I could get us out!" Ugh.

And maybe I'm shallow but I didn't see much meaning in this movie.

I'm not looking to argue with anyone on here about this movie. If you liked it, good for you. But if you're thinking of seeing this movie, not everyone thinks its great.

I'm kind of with Perry on this one, strange movie that seems disappointing message wise. It was entertaining in the sense there was some action and it was "Sci-Fi" and had cool weapons we usually only imagine in video games.

Otherwise I don't see or get whatever message they are sending.

As far as the other comments regarding money etc, money is imaginary. Sure if you have none the "concept" of money takes on a whole new reality but look at it this way, if everyone had as much money as everyone else money becomes moot and pointless.
