I travel a lot for my job but I have my laptop that can play games as well as my Xbox 360 that I hookup to my hotel TV so I can play games and watch DVDs with.

Just wanted to know for single player experiences if anyone here has any recommendations.

Games I've been playing a lot lately have been:
Xbox 360:
Call of Duty World at War: Fun single player but took care of it for a week. I was lucky I borrowed this off a friend but I can see where the multiplayer would be fun.
Mass Effect: Replaying though it since I'm getting hyped up for Mass Effect 2. If you are into space soap operas with good story lines this is something for you to check out.
Fallout 3: This have been my favorite game for the 360. Period. Just absolutely a great game. Great storyline, great action, tons of things to explore.

PC:
Rise of Nations: My favorite RTS ever.
Starting Bioshock.
Played Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. Fun single player but short.

Not much of an RPG player, so you won't hear RPG recommendations from me.

Actually, I don't game much overall... I mean, compared to others. And I even work at Gamestop.

I'm playing Dead Space right now. Awesome game.

I usually go back and forth as I have gaming ADD (I'll never be the guy to sit down and play a console game for 8 straight hours, I say console because I can't make any promises when it comes to Civ). That being said, I have begun to play Civ 4 again (with the expansion packs). For console I've been playing Tiger 2010 and The Show 2010 but am thinking about picking up CoD4 again just to get some practice in before the new Modern Warfare game comes out.

Been straight Gears of War 2 since November.

Will be straight Modern Warface (COD) 2 come November, until next November and I get GoW 3.

It's official. There will be three editions of Modern Warfare 2.

Regular, Hardened, and Prestige.

All you need to know is that the Prestige Edition comes with actual night vision goggles. Yeah.

Here's a tip: let one of your computer players guard the guy with the ball. Play off the ball, Lebron-style, and be a rover. Every time they pass to the guy you're guarding, switch off. This helped me quite a bit when playing against my friends.

I have actually started doing this and have noticed better results

before it was just layups and dunks on me all the time

Getting back on another Civ IV kick, playing the Legends of Revolution and Fall from Heaven mods. Occasionally bust out Fallout 3 (the DLC content is good), GTA 4, Mass Effect (getting psyched for ME2), Left 4 Dead. My main game is still Everquest 2.

This is a no-brainer, especially if you play football video games.

Defending a receiver yourself, at least for me, is just suicide.

Here's a tip: let one of your computer players guard the guy with the ball. Play off the ball, Lebron-style, and be a rover. Every time they pass to the guy you're guarding, switch off. This helped me quite a bit when playing against my friends.

What I like to do, is switch down to a big. Stand at the top of the key, especially if your man is in the high post. If the PG or someone else tries to drive, step over and clog the lane. It makes the AI reset. On any shot crash the boards. If a big gets it inside go for the block.

I find it a lot easier to play D with a big boy than try to match guard with guard. I usually get smoked doing that.

I'm bringing this back since over the past couple weeks and within the next few months some big games are gonna be coming out.

Anyone out there get/play Halo 3: ODST yet?

I just recently finished Batman Arkham Asylum. I can't get over how fun that game was. And I hope they release the sequel sooner than later.

The Beatles Rock Band, obviously. Batman is in my collection, I just haven't sat down to play it. Friend said it wasn't too long, maybe 8-9 hours worth, so I'm probably going to pop it in tonight after work, maybe tomorrow, and definitely Saturday AM before noon.

Downloaded Shadow Complex and Trials HD on the 360. Haven't played any of SC outside the demo, but I'm excited for it. Trials is a motorcycle game...it's like a 3-D Excitebike. It can get difficult, but for $10-$15 or whatever it cost (1200 points IIRC), it's an addictive game. Basically, get to the end of the course without crashing. Also, I'm not a huge FPS guy, but I did put a reserve on the newest Call of Duty that comes out in November. Why? Because I'm getting sweet night vision goggles. Hey Bill, since you work at Gamestop, do you know if these are going to be any good? If they're just going to be junk, I'll move my reservation to something else.

Yeah, Arkham Asylum was a blast. Still going back to uncover all the Riddler's trophies and find the answers to all the riddles. Also love the challenge mode.

Great game. With Batman leaving at the end to go after Two-Face robbing a bank there is already a clear path to a direct sequel. With the character models done, etc it might be quick work to get a sequel out next year around the same time of year. This one has been a big seller.

Lets see.

When I'm home I'm playing Rock Band and Rock Band Beatles as always.
I've been playing a lot of Horde mode on Gears of War 2 with the wife since she's working on getting to lvl 50 to get the achievements. Also downloaded Defense Grid on Xbox Live. Lots of fun.

On the road I'm playing Galactic Civ2 a space turn based strategy game on my laptop.
Also playing Scribblenauts that I got on my Nintendo DS. It's ok but the novelty wears out fast and the puzzles can be stupid sometimes. It's worth a rental but I don't know about a buy.

Want to try the new Batman but I can't seem to rent it on GameFly because they keep running out.

Hey RC, ever consider the Professor Layton games for DS? I never played em, but I heard they're great.

As for Batman, I don't mean to be a spoiler, but the final boss was pretty lame. The best "boss" fight was the one right before it against the goons and the two roided up dudes, Killer Croc "fight" being a close second.

Obviously cannot wait for CoD2 and Assassin's Creed 2.

I don't think they really designed it to have mega challenging boss fights. Besides, how tough could the last one be when you've been facing the big, juiced up dudes for most of the game? Bane definitely was the nastiest of those. The Croc sequence was great and intense. I also liked the fight against Poison Ivy, but none of the fights were really solely boss fights.

Besides, how tough can Joker ever really be in a fight? That's not Joker's forte. He's more likely to get others to go after you for him and even at the end he was trying to get his minions to do the dirty work. It'd be out of character for Joker to actively go after Batman in a fight himself.

Got a Wii...and am totally hooked on Tiger Woods 2010.

But I did shoot a 56 on Bethpage Black...which is nice.

And Tiger Woods 10 on Wii is a great, great game. Good learning curve on it, so you can gradually crank up the difficulty.

And to whoever brought up Galatic Civilizations 2 - that's another great game. I remember playing the original GalCiv2 a decade ago on OS/2 (Stardock was originally an OS/2 publisher). The new Windows version is even better, but you have to be careful because it's easy to spend a full day and beyond playing GalCiv2.

Super BTW, anyone else aware that they are releasing a new 2D, side-scrolling Mario game for the Wii set to come out in November? If you guys are aware of the rerelease of that game on DS, then it's just like that. If not, well it's basically a revamped Mario 1 on the Wii w/ multiplayer up to four players at the same time.

Time to wipe the dust off the 360.....still play Halo 3 from time to time on-line, but looking forward to the new Halo ODST game. Whenever I get that and get on-line I'll have to post something to find out who on here may be on-line playing it. Would be cool to get a TCF crew together one night for some halo dominance.

That is about the complete opposite of my brother, as my head explodes on a near daily basis. The public Xbox live crowd is a definite argument for legalized abortion.

I've been playing Halo 3 online a lot lately. I also just bought NHL 08 on ebay, and I'm going to play it soon. I'm getting tired of baseball and football for some reason, lol.

I wish Cleveland had a hockey team.. I guess I could be a Columbus Bluejackets fan, but it's just not the same to me.

Big surprise I know.

I only really play Halo 3 on-line as that is all I have time for these days, though with the offseason coming up and more free time at my disposal I will be playing Halo 3 a lot more at night and have Halo ODST on my Christmas list. May also pick up some other games considered popular for on-line play.

I read that the goggles are made by some Japanese toy company so don't expect much.

I can't wait for the new COD. That along with Batman, Wolfenstien, and Marvel Ultimate alliance 2 will be on my xmas list. Currently I am just playing a ton of Beatles Rock Band and Madden 10. Once I cool off one those I'll finish Dead Space and my first chise in MLB 09 the show finally. I don't get a lot of time to play anymore so it takes me forever to get through stuff.

My friend let me borrow Batman so I've been playing it. Amazing as expected. Love it.

Also, on Madden 10 I took a break from the Browns and created a new team. Yea, I had the Lions move and scrapped the whole team. They are now the Akron Bulldogs haha. I created myself as QB and gave myself sick stats and got Frye as my backup. I have Davis and Pittman as my backs. I have Winslow and Royal at TE. My WR's are Bryant, Galloway, Ginn, Roboski, and Cribbs. As unrealistic as it is, I love doing a fantasy draft haha. Just take whoever the hell you want. I finished the Bulldogs uniforms and stadium last night and it's sick. Love Madden 10. I could play it forever.

Despite me thinking ODST sucks, this trailer is quite something. The Covenant soldier not looking fake or too much CGI'd bodes well if the Halo movie ever gets fully underway.

I'm currently playing Rock Band (like I always am).

New games are that I'm still playing Fallout 3 (with all the expansions) and Gears of War 2 (double xp weekend) while I'm at home.

While I'm on the road I like to play Street Fighter IV on my Xbox I take with me as well as while I'm listening to podcasts or Glenn Beck's audio book of Arguing with Idiots I'm playing Galactic Civ 2 on my laptop.
