USA v. Brazil

Incredible first half. Landon Donovan and Jonathan Spector have this team on their backs. I heard people emailing Goldhammer this morning talking about how they'd rather watch the Indians than soccer. I just don't get that mindset; especially since we're on the verge of the greatest US soccer victory ever.

I think the Tribe bullpen is wearing US jerseys in the 2nd half.

I want to say I'm disappointed, but I can't I think the US may finally have taken that last step on the world stage to credibility. I love Landon Donovan, and I think that the US will have to be taken seriously at the World Cup.

Football's chokers

Our choke history isn't as distinguished as England's, so I wouldn't go that far yet. I didn't get to see the match until late last night and avoided the scoreboard all day. Mixed emotions for- Donovan's goal was brilliant, up 2-0, massive opportunity. Second half possessions were too short and sloppy and we buckled under the pressure. Howard looked good, Brazil just has too much offense.

American's playing with confidence, which makes all the difference and I think that this team has turned a corner and is ready for next World Cup. 2-0 leads on Brazil don't happen very often, so it's a tough loss in my book. Hopefully they can learn from it and move forward to the next challenge.

We've got Mexico in August. My prediction? PAIN.
