9:39 p.m. — We’re underway. Bonnar refuses to tap gloves to open. Bonnar throws a big haymaker followed by body kick. Nickels catches the kick and dumps Bonnar to the ground. Bonnar grabs full guard, and almost immediately sweeps Nickels. The two fight for position, and Bonnar gets Nickels back in the scramble. Bonnar gets one hook in and starts looking for a rear naked choke. Bonnar is working at a choke but can’t get under the chin. Bonnar just starts squeezing the hell out of the hold, and just through the pressure alone works down just under his opponent’s chin and forces the tap out. Stephan Bonnar defeats Mike Nickels by submission (rear naked choke) at 2:14 in the first round.
