What? You can actually sign a $10,000,000+ contract, then refuse to take the field because you don't want to switch positions. I hope the Nats are able to find a way to suspend him until he changes his tune, but with their budget, that is very unlikely. Instead they will be forced to trade him for pennies on the dollar or cut him before the season starts. What a joke!

I heard on the way in this morning that they are going to try and petition the league to have him placed on the DQ list so they don't have to pay his ass.

They have now given him until Thursday to decide. If he goes on the DQ list, not only does he not get paid, it does not count as a year of service, making him arby eligible again next year instead of being a FA. Screw him Nats!

By the way, Soriano is not the only doofus here. Jim Bowden deserves, in the words of Rob Neyer, "all the scorn you can spare." You trade for a guy with a plan for him to change position and you don't even check with him first? That's STOOPID.

(Plus I actually think Brad Wilkerson, sans the park effects and injuries (which I believe have had sufficient time to heal), is the more valuable offensive player.)
