Masters 2009

Golf is back!! I cant wait to get out and play. Also, cant wait for the Masters in a couple of weeks. We usually do pools for MLB, Super Bowl, NBA, March Madness, so why not get a Masters Pool going? If anyone has any ideas, add to it because im just throwing ideas out there. This is what i have in mind....

everyone throws in the entry fee and is entered into the Masters draft. Depending on how many people we have, we may have multiple rounds so each participant has a few golfers. Winner takes home all the cheddar. Of course, the draft would be a snake style, just like a fantasy football draft. Lets get this ball rolling so we can finish in enough time before they tee off.

Someone at my work just mentioned this to me Friday. It might be too late to drum up the interest it would require, but for future events it might be worth it. The one he is in gets up to $20,000. Now, he is pretty wealthy, and the people he hangs with are pretty wealthy. But the pool itself can be as cheap as you want it to be.

You buy shares in players. 1 share=$5. If you have a share in the winner, you get the percentage of that guy that your share is worth. You can buy as many shares as you want, and place them on as many different guys that you want, including owning multiple shares of the same guy.

Example: There are 200 shares in the total pool. The total prize is $1,000. You bought 2 shares of Tiger, who wins the tournament. There are a total of 25 shares bought on Tiger. $1,000 divided by 25 shares is $40/share, so you would win $80 by having two shares.

It is obviously a much better payout if Tiger loses. When Zach Johnson won, there were 10 shares bought in him for a $20,000 pool, so each share was worth 2K.
