In Buster Olney's blog
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/ind ... ney_buster he mentions that he has "
heard that Cleveland could be the landing place for Jeff Weaver, just as another Boras client -- Kevin Millwood -- was last year.
Interesting. Would mean Westbrook is dealt for help in the lineup and/or bullpen. Gammons mentioned this same thing a week or so ago.

Last I heard he was looking for around 10 million. Can't imagine Dolan being cool with that.

Perhaps Weaver is looking at the kind of success Millwood had here last year.
He knows that no team is dumb enough to give him a 3 yr/24 mil deal. Best bet is to latch on to a team that has post-season aspirations and a pretty good offense and pray for the best.
If the Crisp deal is supposed to save us some dough, one year at around 8mil would be fair. He's got to know that if he goes to a mediocre team for one year, he might get even less next year. At least with Cleveland he's playing for a contender.

I wouldn't hold my breathe about Jeff Weaver coming to any logical conclusions.

If the Crisp deal falls apart, Westbrook for a bat, sign Weaver could be the new Modus Operandi for Shapiro.
I'd prefer that to dealing Coco for prospects.

Yeah, word is that the Indians may be close on a Westbrook for Kearns deal AND signing Weaver. This is in addition to the Crisp/Marte and Rhodes/Michaels trade.
Jesus. What a flurry of activity!

Yes Swerb
The key is trade for a bat, not necessarily trade for Kearns... the Indians could sign Weaver and be in a great posiiton of power to trade from...
