Injury Bug Goes Green

Unread postby AK-ROWDY » Fri Feb 20, 2009 12:56 am

During the 2nd Quarter of the Utah/ Boston game Garnett went down with a right ankle injury. It looks like he can't put any pressure on it at all. Might be a little premature but it looked bad.

Hopefully he tore something, or at lest a severe High Ankle sprain...

Their a 5th seed with out him the rest of the season....

Remember Pierce can't carry this team.... they won 16 games that year!

Saw the same thing. In my expert medical opinion ;-) ;) I thought it was a calf/achilles. Unfortunately his leg did appear to still be attached to the rest of his body.

Hopefully it's nothing more than career ending. :thumb up:

Kevin Garnett left Thursday's game with an apparent right leg injury during the second quarter.

He looked gimpy throughout the two plays prior to the one he left on, and hopped on one foot to the locker room with the assistance of trainers. We will update this blurb when we get a report, but his return to the game is in question.

Wow.

I can't root for this to be a bad injury, no matter how much it might help the Cavs. Would definitely hope he didn't rupture his Achilles Tendon. That's bad business.

They definitely are a lesser team without him.

Achilles tendon injuries typically sideline NBA players for at least a year, so more then just this season!

But we can still hope for the bus thing.

Nah just have Darnell Jackson channel Tonya Harding and lead pipe his knee during warmups.

Either that or sign Rodman for the vet minimum for the sheer purpose of destroying KG.

"Strained right knee"

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3920443

No-contact injury. Sometimes those are nothing but many times tests confirm something more the next day.

By the way, no matter how much the guy's a dick, not cool to wish things like an Achilles injury on him. I know most of you spoke in jest, but didn't get the feeling from all the posts that everyone was joking...

I would rather the Celtics plane crash land on the Lost island; everyone lives, everyone is happy, and Cavs coast to the finals.

Will be interesting to see how long KG is out...

His lose will hurt them more defensively.

After watching it I don't think anyone can come to any conclusions. i will say this, that the stretch tehy have up until they play us in 2 weeks just got real interesting.

Plus if we play them @ Boston without KG you have to like our chances...(that could be huge to the season series tiebreaker)
Playing here is the closest thing to heaven. Really, I mean it's amazing to be in a place where the fans truly cherish their football team and stick behind them win or lose. Sucks having an old team. Was bound to happen sooner or later to either KG or Allen; playing a 110 game season as a 32-year old the year before takes its toll especially when you've had to play massive minutes carrying a crappy team for the preceding decade.
Fuck the Browns...

Believe me I want a championship as much as the next guy. What I don't want to hear, especially from Chowds and the talking heads at the Network, is how the ONLY way we could win was having one of the "Big 3" injured.

Who gives a shit? You think the people in Boston care that the only reason they won the chip in 1976 was because Jim Chones got hurt?

yeah, just like they say the only reason why houston won those back-to-back titles in the mid 90's was because michael jordan was off playing baseball somewhere. be real. i don't give 2 shits what any "chowds" or the espn talking heads say. if the cavs win a championship at the expense of a boston injury, then so be it. the fact will remain that they still won the championship and they can't take that away. nanner-nanner-nah-nah

With Mo Williams and more outside shooting I'm nowhere near as scared of the Spurs as I am of the Lakers with a motivated Lamar Odom.

Which is why I'm a Spurs fan from here until we'd have to play 'em in June!

Yup. They only beat us last year because they had HCA. On the road, those little bullying moves by KG turn into cheap fouls. That team relies on intimidation, and that tactic doesn't work so well away from the Garden.

don't forget these guys:

I'm afraid of the West this year.

With Mo Williams and more outside shooting I'm nowhere near as scared of the Spurs as I am of the Lakers with a motivated Lamar Odom.

Which is why I'm a Spurs fan from here until we'd have to play 'em in June!

A motivated Lamar Odom in February almost guarantees a non-motivated Lamar Odom in May/June.
Fuck the Browns...

KG out 2-3 weeks; Cavs play at Boston on March 6.

PHOENIX -- The Boston Celtics say forward Kevin Garnett will miss two to three weeks because of a strained muscle behind his right knee.

Garnett returned Friday to Boston after injuring the knee on the team's West Coast trip. Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss says Saturday that team doctor Brian McKeon diagnosed the muscle strain after tests and an MRI.

"Rest and ice for KG," Celtics president Danny Ainge told The Boston Globe.

Garnett injured his knee while going up for an alley-oop late in the first half of Boston's 90-85 loss to the Utah Jazz on Thursday. He landed gingerly and immediately motioned to the bench for a substitute.

After the game, the team decided to send him back to Boston as a precaution when the soreness in his knee persisted. The Celtics play in Phoenix on Sunday.

Boston might pick up free agent forward-center Mikki Moore, who was cut by Sacramento, or Oklahoma City forward Joe Smith if he is ever waived, the Globe reported.

This opens up a huge window for Cleveland. providing Boston loses some games without KG. I can see the Celtics losing to Phoenix tomorrow and Denver next week on the second night of a back to back. Then Cleveland HAS to beat them at their place on the 6th. Obviously the Cavs can't go losing to anyone in the mean time. The Celtics are still going to be a tough team even without the ticket. They still have plenty of good players and the league is shite this year. Hopefully the Cavs can grab a hold of the top seed in the East as a result of this injury to Garnett. I truly believe the Cavs can take even a full strength Boston team with home court addy in the playoffs.

Bottom line - doesn't matter whose healthy or not. Screw the rest of the league, if we lose focus of what we have to do ourselves - we're done. Every team plays 82 games. The next west coast swing should be doable. Don't get caught bitchin at the refs or looking ahead - TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN BUSINESS! The ONLY thing the Cavaliers need to be thinking about today, Feb. 22, is the Detroit Pistons. Charlie Vilanueva may just have given this team the kick in the ass that they needed when they needed it.
