Enough of the steroid talk - Spring Training starts tomorrow

Unread postby dazindiansfanuk » Wed Feb 11, 2009 6:36 pm

I've had enough of the off-season, I'm long past the point of caring about steroids in the game..... all I know is baseball is back tomorrow and I, for one, think it's long over due!

19hrs & 26mins until pitchers and catchers report.

Thank effing God. Something new to finally talk about....well, erm, not really until the season starts. No news is good news in spring training. But at least we can start talking about who came into camp fat or how some of the position battles are looking.

Great post!

I too am tired of the negative talk of PEDs. All baseball can do is modify policy moving forward. I am tired of the players getting bashed in the media. I am tired of the Bonds case. I am tired of caring about needles linked to Roger C. Hell, I am tired of worrying if the last paycheck I put in the bank yesterday will be my last with my current company. Time for a fresh approach, a fresh attitude, and a great season. I cannot wait to follow spring training and see what this team does.

We have such awesome unknonowns to track this spring:

- Have we seen the last of Andy Marte in Cleveland?
- Does Josh Barfield get a shot as a backup 2B/LF?
- What does DeRosa show in a Tribe uniform?
- Does Pavano hold a rotation spot this spring?
- Will Peralta get ABs at 3B?
- Who wins the #4, #5 rotation slots?
- The pen?
- Shoppach or Garko - who becomes more of an assistant coach than everyday player?
- Can Hafner play the game again?

And may the injury bug be vacinated!

I think we all - even those of us that discuss them, are sick of the steroids talk. I think many of us were, are, or have been sick of talking about the money imbalances and contracts. Same goes for a lousy commissioner, who had a definite conflict of interest when hired. How bout talk of ridiculous all-star game decisions and the fact an exhibition game decides home field for a world championship? World Series rain delays anyone?

If baseball would wise up and start doing a few things right there wouldn't be nearly the amount of discussion about things off the field. They gotta break the riGoddamndiculous union of theirs and start wising up.

Spring training fires many of us up, but it could fire up so many more. And it's a shame what is becoming of a great game.

It's been in the high 60's the past 2 days. Hitting fungos in the warm and sun is borderline heaven. Bring on baseball.

It's really difficult for me to take MLB's PEDs take seriously when they accept millions and millions of advertising dollars from Viagara, Cialis and Levitra.

I was going to say it was really 'hard' for me to take it seriously but you guys wood a seen that coming. ;-) ;)

It's like Peek has a hardon for Selig, when it's A-rod, Clemens, Tejada and Pettit that belong in the boner of the month club.

:thumb up:

And if not banned from Advertising, you can list the money behind the game:

1: Beer Companies
2: Hard Alcohol, if it were allowed
3: Cigaretts, if it were allowed
4: Sex, anything with a half naked chick
5: Pharma drugs that apply to sex
6: If drugs were legal, throw in Phillip Morris and Weed, with snoop dogg wearing an A-Rod jersey

I would not be shocked to see the male enhancement drugs jump on the wagon this year and tell us all how to double the size of what can rise up with your Viagra and others...
