Maybe DA has been traded. With the tight ship they are running in there who knows, it may not have been leaked. Its not like it would take a ton of people to decide on a DA trade. If it was between ManKok and the other teams coach/gm it probably wouldnt be leaked. Im just wishfully thinking here though.

Apparently he addressed the mural indicating they will be putting a bigger mural near the front of the building where it will be more visible (pretty much what Pup had told us last week). Mangini said that he wants the building to reflect himself and the team (at least where he envisions the team to be). More to come...

I just read the highlights from the press conference, and I got to say I was impressed. It was like "Finnegan's Wake", there's words but no real coherence.

I guess there was an incident some time where Mangini walked by Shaun Rogers without acknowledging him. When asked, Mangini responded something to the effect of: 'Didn't know he was there. It's like two destroyers. He can hang out with Kris Jenkins.'

I never said that, I said that Mangini said nothing of worth to me (I wont speak for all of you) and he didnt.

If you take the time to listen to the press conference, you will notice the recaps do not effectively cover the conference information.

Now, considering the discussion of the media for the past month, with New York, National new as well as the local news.

A true statement regarding the press conference is that he did not tell the media anything important regarding the players on the roster, what he thought of them and what he plans to do.

Well, guess what, if you were the head coach of the Cleveland Browns you would not say anything about those areas either. It is rather amusing, how the media gets all excited about nothing.

They have to write articles to sell their papers or get their internet articles read to get the respective advertisement money.

If you listen to what he had to say, it was informative or where he is and what he is doing. Now he did not have to have a press conference to tell you that. If you thought about it, you already knew he was busy on the draft, free agency, hiring coaches and evaluating the roster players.

He is working on the schemes, determining what areas are musts for the 2009 roster and what areas are needs. The determination which areas can be addressed internally, free agent or in the draft. A good plan to improve the team each day.

He had a nice discussion about his teams offensive plans. He brought up Callahan's name and got some interesting conversation.

He discussed some of the offensive scheme.

I liked what he had to say about his 3-4 defensive scheme and the benefits of the four linebackers and the variations available. He did discussed the 4-3, and mentioned how it was not quite as flexible and it was more limited against various offenses.

Generally, I liked listening to what he had to say.

He and Kokinis are the guys leading the Browns in 2009, it is time to stop crying why Pioli or Cowher were not signed and figure out what these guys are going to do to improve our Cleveland Browns.

He did say, he was still looking for four or five coaches. He discussed the idea of getting them from the college area. He thought it was right to wait on these guys until the national college signing day was over. That was interesting since he hired his QB coach who was in college last year.

As mentioned to me the other day, the primary coaches he has signed. This meaning the important coaches are now under contract.

I am real interested in who will be coming for the LB coach. I wonder if he will go to Virginia for this coach. The WR, RB, TE and ? are the other open positions to my understanding.

This should be an interesting week. The scouts are in Berea this week.

Mangini did mention he would be in Indy from the beginning to the end of the combine. He thought the interviewing of the underclassmen was important since they do not have as much film or material on these players.

Again, the recaps you read are informative, but it is not the same as the actual news conference. It is pretty much like seeing the movie. The movie is good, but, it is never as good as the book.

That would be tremendous. Not only did Al Groh have a pretty nice year with the Jets, he's been coaching a pure 3-4 at Virginia.

By the way. The quote about 2 destroyers was refering to himself and Rogers passing by. "I didn't really realize...Shaun was there," Mangini said. "I know that's probably hard to believe with how big he is and how big I am, it's like two destroyers missing each other. I always appreciate a 360-pound nose guard that's powerful and disruptive and has a high motor."

It'd be great if it could happen but it seems a little far-fetched that a head coach of a BCS conference school would drop from HMFIC to position coach. Now saying that, I don't know Virginia's situation or whether Groh is on his way out or what but you'd think he could at least get a coordinator job from someone if he does leave Virginia.
