Really digging my new iPod Touch. Have a 45 min commute to and fro the office every day, so I've been downloading podcasts like crazy and listening to them in place of crappy AM radio with 30 min of commercials every hour.

Some of the ones I've been listening to ...

~TheClevelandFan Live
~Bill Simmons Daily BS
~Pigskin Podcast
~Bloomberg and Wall Street Journal Daily Market Updates
~60 Minutes Podcast
~NPR movies and money podcast
~Cramer Mad Money podcast

Anyone have any other podcast suggestions?

Baseball Prospectus has a podcast
Skeptoid (debunks junk science)
Bloomberg on the Economy http://www.bloomberg.com/tvradio/podcas ... onomy.html

Two podcasts (produced by me) that may help with your job- quite a few mortgage/housing talks in there
National Association for Business Economics http://www.nabe.com/podcasts/index.html
National Economists Club http://www.national-economists.org/podcasts/
These are both somewhat irregular - don't have much during the holidays

Sound Opinions: Two music critics from Chicago talking music every week, usually with a guest.

For any fans of Kevin Smith, he and Scott Mosier do one which is funny since it's pretty much the two of them sitting around talking about random stuff.

For local news I download WCPN's Sound of Ideas show...except Fridays when Regina Brett hosts.

For sheer nerdiness, a show called Remember When. Two guys typically talking about movies and stuff from their childhood, occasionally delving into more recent stuff. The last few episodes they've picked apart the Star Wars prequels.

Thanks I am just getting used to my 8 GB Nano, and couldn't believe all the podcasts out there.

I picked up a few from a bunch of weight/fitness guys I like called Fitcast.

That stuff Bruce put up looks good too. I spend a lot of time on bearish housing/economics blogs and I should get some balance in there (maybe find some bullish podcasts).

Christmas vacation is over for the podcasts - later Friday I'll have ex-Fed Governor Laurence Meyer up on the NEC podcast. I haven't listened to it yet (it gets recorded in a noisy Chinese restaurant in Washington, DC, then they upload it for me to edit) but want to get it done before the Cavs game starts

Agreed. Just started listening a couple months ago, and always a solid Podcast.

To me, the best podcast out there is This American Life from Chicago Public Radio. The only disadvantage is that only the current podcast is available, and all the back ones have to be paid for (usually only 99 cents). Great stories, and always a great listen.

I've also been listening to the following:

1. I Love Movies - Comedian Doug Benson always makes me laugh, and this show has progressively gotten better since it started.
2. KEXP and NPR both have a number of live concerts available as well. Great two hour Radiohead live show, in case you like them.
3. Stuff You Should Know and Stuff You Missed in History Class have both been pretty good.
4. ESPN Mayne Street has a good set of videos. Mayne makes me laugh.
5. The 60 Minutes Podcast is always a good listen if you don't watch it on Sundays.

This podcast is phenomenal. Smith and Mosier are hysterical. Their most recent one is very funny.

Between this, Simmons podcast, the TCF stuff, Cramer on CNBC and some college hoops podcasts, I no longer am at the mercy of Mike and Mike on the 45 min commute into the office every morning.

Simmons podcast from Friday with Adam Carolla is one of the funniest things I've ever heard, and by far the funniest podcast I've ever listened to.

Well worth the listen. Was laughing out loud in my car through most of it. Carolla is so GD funny.

Carolla was hitting on all cylinders, saying that women are basically competing in the "Sperm Olympics," that they all secretly hate each other. BS Report is my favorite podcast, but this was a great one even by Simmons' standards. "Dakota Fanning playing a boy in an Oscar-winning role." Can't wait for Carolla's podcast to get up and running.

Adam Carrola's Podcasts are hilarious. I was just listening to one where he did a 5 minute rant on energy drinks, and he was dead on about them. He is intolerantly angry about little things in life and he's right about most of it.

The Carolla podcast is in the two hole for me right after the B.S. Report. Loved the rant on energy drinks. At least once a show, he hits on something that we're all thinking, but were never able to just absolutely roast like he can.

Carolla's most recent podcast, with comedian Jim Florentine, may be one of the 4-5 funniest things I've listened to in my life.

I was wheezing with laughter driving home today. Literally almost had to pull over to the berm on 480.

Talks about Florentine's 9 months dating Robin Quivers from Stern, stripper fake names, guys that are friends with girls for a long time without ever getting to bang em, and practical jokes involving shitting in or on things.

Hysterical. Listen now, thank me later.

I was listening to that podcast at Gold's Gym after deboarding after returning from C-Town. I slipped on the treadmill and almost took out the chick on the one next to me. I could not stop laughing even when she asked me, "what the F is wrong with you?" I didn't care I couldn't stop laughing.

Did they even talk about the Cavs? I listened to most of the first part and skipped around the second part and didn't hear any discussion of the Cavs. No one listed us as favorites and Simmons even said the only contender that improved is San Antonio.

Been listening to Dan Carlin's Hardcore History off iTunes.

He uses really good imagery. I listened to him recount the Punic wars, and found myself thinking about the battles days later.

Rather then just saying what happens, he talks about what is was like to be part of a historical event. Good stuff.

Been in full newbie BS Report mode for the last 3 weeks. I only have about one hour of listening time a day, so it's easy to get behind- but still interesting to catch up.

I've hooked up TheClevelandFan and will check out Carolla. Not enough hours in the day for me. Unfortunately, I'm having issues pulling podcasts my work computer, which would open up more listening time. Working on it...

Just a note that the Deadpod is a gold for Grateful Dead fans. New Dead set selected each week, along with quick analysis of time, place, lineup, and set notes. No more digging through my discs and tapes= sweet. "The Professor" who puts up the show has a very, very deep library and only puts on high-quality recordings. Perfect for weekend enjoyment.

FTR: The Disciples of Clyde podcast (freedarko's podcast) started a huge slope downward after I recommended it (after consecutive interviews of Dwyer, straightballin and Lang W). It still amuses me, but Ken came back after six months off or so and they went WAY esoteric randomness w/ it.

Not recommend for general consumption at this point.

The Jones are still doing there thing and ESPN's Inside the NBA Podcast that they do three times a week is actually legit.

I also love Dan Levy (onthedlpodcast.com). I hate the guy and disagree w/ most everything he says, but it keeps me amused for 30 minutes at a time. Guy is like a more liberal/agenda laden Kornheiser.

Dailies:

Adam Carolla Podcast
Stuff You Should Know
ESPN Fantasy Baseball Report

Weeklies:
The Deadpod
Improv Resource Center

Will hook into Rogan. 2hrs. seems long for a daily.

Had TCF hooked up, it didn't break into my routine (we've all got limited time). Will resubscribe. Note from a listener- use great mics and don't make me strain to hear anything. Also, FYI... Everyone skips opening intro music if they can. Don't overvalue it, short is good.

So how is we missed Bill Burr's podcast on this thread?

He's been doing the Monday Morning Podcast for years now, I just discovered it.

Its like 100 hours of free material from one of the best comics out there. Podcasts are absolutely going to kill radio. I'm loving this.

The Bugle...so freaking funny its impossible not to crack up. I've gotten a lot of weird looks while walking around campus listening to them, because no one expects laughter from the dude with the headphones.
mmm, this is, a tasty burger!

I haven't been listening to Simmon's podcast much anymore. Too much better stuff now.

But, I'm in on the Baseball playoffs this year and he had Buster Olney on to talk about them so I gave it a listen.

They spent close to the entirety of the first 25 minutes talking about the Red Sox. You know, one of the teams that didn't make the playoffs. ::doh:: :pb:

Seriously, fuck that douchnozzle. Fuck him in the ear.

I know this is an old thread. He doesn't deserve a new one.

Simmons just needs to be taken behind the shed and put to "sleep."

Either that or his head and ego hopefully will grow to the point where it all just explodes into a messy end.

He's the effing worst.
