I am finishing off my basement. Part of the build is a home bar that I am putting in.

I ordered a summit freezer/fridge and a summit duel tap kegerator for installation under counter. I have heard some beers/kegs may need different tap connections.

I ordered a Cleveland Browns tap handle for one of the taps. I may just get an Indians one for the other vice trying to collect a bunch for different beers. They are not cheap, $40 new, though I am sure used tap handles could be found for much cheaper. I also got a smaller Browns neon sign which should look nice.

Anyone think of any other esential or just nice to have items for a home bar. I am going for a more pub style feel with it. Though I will have two small LCDs wall mounted on both sides of the bar.

My daughter is one, so I will not be worried about her getting into anything for a bit.

Hard to say without seeing the place in person. I suggest that we, the readers of this forum, perform a site audit, which includes the careful monitoring and consumption of the food and beverages iin order to properly assess their quality. It will be important to judge the environment, so I would recommend having the LCDs functional and tuned to some type of sporting event. A typical site audit lasts about 6 hours. I think a dartboard is an absolute must, especially if you're going pub style. Look around on Amazon or something for some other signs, old world kind of decor. I've seen a neon countdown to St. Patrick's Day sign at a bar that I go to down here in Akron that's pretty cool.

Other than that, not really sure. I'm sure you'll find some really cool stuff as you look around.

I agree that I will need a dart board. I have an old one but a new one (possibly in a Browns or Indians cabinet) would be nice.

As for the audit. Hopefully I'll be open for buisness early in the new year.

I hope to do some entertaining but being stuck in PA and decorating my place in Browns gear may scare off the neighbors.

In all honesty, you should think about doing some kind of stamped concrete or a Nature Stone type floor. You'd hate to be entertaining and get shit spilled on the carpeted floor. Also, that's a little bit bright in the color choices to look pub-style.

No shuffle board. That's a place holder for the pool table. I would love to fit one in but I got most of the space reserved already.

As to the colors, again just place holders. I planned to do the bar and the walls (waynes coat) around it in a darker (but not red) stain.

The rest of the basement I was thinking a light brown color with an orange rope light behind the molding. I'll break out the team colors in a couple of spots but will try not to over do it.

All you have to do now is finish the "Man Cave", move it to Cleveland and have a TCF bash.

Looks totaly sweet. One small comment - I can't tell from the photo where the existing water source is, but have you considered putting the sink along the back wall of the bar area and leaving more counter space? I considered putting a sink outdoors next to the grill but then decided you never use it as much as you think and it only gets in the way.

Thought about it but I did not really have the space to do a traditional back bar area and still leave good clearance around the pool table. So what I did is move the cabinetry to the side bar to try to keep the correct look.

I have also tried to plan for a future patio with dead headed water, electric, and gas lines.

I love the Man Caves. Every guy should have his own space to bang around in.

While I love getting it all done, I also love where your at right now, the design stage.

I think you've got it well thought out, but now is also a great time just to hear ideas, so I'll whip out a few I did, maybe you will like also.

1)Since its a basement, its going to be naturally dark, I'm not seeing very many windows. I'd go lite colors on the main body, and accent with darker on things like your granite bar top, leather chairs, whatever.

2) I wouldn't carpet, but use area rugs. Should that bad boy ever get water in it, carpet stink will run you out. My floors are painted with masonry paint, area rug in the middle.

3)I did 3 types of lighting. Electrical can lights in the ceiling, with a few table lights. Thats one type. The other lighting effect I did naturally, with the glow of the fireplace and some antique lanterns and candle holders, what a cool look!

4) The 3rd lighting I did was with accessory type lights, mainly Indians lights. Neons. I also made some lights for my gun area out of used shotgun shells. Just recrimp the ends, get a strand of white christmas lights , and shove the light into the crimp. Damn cool effect with just the neons and shells lit only....

5) If possible, having a seperate entrance to the Cave-Bar is awesome. Mine has its own over-sized door to the outside, which I light with an OPEN sign. Great for hauling in huge furnitings, appliances, whatever, and also to keep traffic down through the house. More money yes, but you will never regret doing it.

I have added some color. My wife picked out the off white and I couldn't take it so I added some brown to a couple of walls. It feels better now. I am going to also hit it with some team colors in areas.





I got some more drastic changes coming soon. Trim and doors will happen this week.

I am thinking about changing thevertical edge of the soffit to the brown color that is on a couple of the walls and arches. I still have a crown mold that will be going up on the bottom edge of the soffit for a rope light to be tucked behind and will need to choose it's color as well.

What do you guys thinks?

Well I painted the soffit.

Now I just need to figure out a color for the crown and trim.

I was playing with a dark brown but am currently leaning toward a glossy white.

Looks good Nax. I'd go with a lighter color crown. If it's a basement room (less natural light) and you'll be putting things on the wall, you ma want to brighten it up.

I am putting in a 58" plasma in the media area with two 19" LCDs by the bar. I have LCDs in the house but this will be the first plasma I have owned.

The sound system will definetly be the best I have had also. Integra reciever, Canton speakers. I am setting it up so that my office computer will become a digital music server and I'll be able to stream internet radio to the reciever.

All the crown and some more trim work complete. Maybe I'll be done by the Superbowl. Outside chance since I'll need to have the cabinet guys, counter top template, and floor guys in. As well as the plumber back for his hook ups.

Good thing is other than touch up paint I should be done very soon.

Absolutely love the bar and the dark hardwood that you chose to match the bar and the chairs. Not sure how I feel about the felt color of the pool table, but it matches the rest of the room with a neutral color.

It's looking awesome man. The basement-warming party should be quite an event.

I got some cheap beer to break in the tap system. Good choice. I drained the CO2 tank dry in the less than a week. It was missing a rubber seal in one of the connections. I think the beer survived. Kind of hard to tell it is some cheap stuff.
