Thanksgiving Favorites?

It's coming up and I was curious whats some of your guys favorites?

I'm probably in the minority for this, because in every other place I've seen this dish is usually not well liked. But Damn, Green Bean Casserole is underrated as hell. Used to hate it, but for some reason grew a taste for it. Another one is Celery with cream cheese, and of course the turkey itself.

Watching the hapless Lions play one of the better games of the year. Cowboys at 4 against someone good. Laying on the couch all day and letting the women of my family cater to me. Going right back to the couch after dinner, watch more football with the fellas, and vegetate on the couch for an hour with a couple cold beers before the wave of homemade pies come.

Good call, but to be honest I could settle for Stove Top stuffing from the box, I wouldn't want to but I could survive if all the rest of the traditional parts of the meal were in place.

I love Italian sausage in stuffing.

What really puts my Turkey Day over the top now a days is having Friday off, if I don't I am a completely different person.

Any body out there still do the turkey bowl? Tackle? My group still does, we've incorporated a nice evolution of youth into our tradition. I personally had to retire from the tackle edition though, did it until 33, why I have no idea but did it none the less.

It tastes so much better as stuffing and not dressing but the chefs swear it dries the bird.

And you can't forget the 8PM turkey sammich after the 2PM dinner.

Question concerning Thanksgiving, Am I the only one who mixes everything up in to a big thanksgiving slurry and eat it? I love the taste of it all together, I'd almost rather put it in the blender and drink it up as a shake. Grab some turkey slobbered in gravy with mashed taters, stuffin', green bean casserole all stuffed in to one bite... favorite part is taking a hot buttered roll and sopping up the entire plate with it.

Then the beer and football... ahhh... cant wait. The new wife said her family watches xmas movies and not football on thanksgiving like the Santa Claus and Miracle on 34th street... her family is in for a tradition change... What American doesnt watch football on Thanksgiving, it is as much a part of thanksgiving as Turkey, Great Lakes Christmas Ale and snoring uncles on the couch.

I'm hoping to create a new Thanksgiving favorite here today. It's just me and my wife, so we're going simple. The main course is going to be a turkey, ham, and swiss stromboli, with a mayonnaise-mustard-Worcestershire dipping sauce. I'll know in a few hours if I have a hit.

Obviously late weighing (pardon the pun) in here on this topic.

We always have the whole feast. However, I could just eat turkey white meat, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy all day and be thrilled. I always take like one spoonful of everything else to keep everyone else happy.

My wife makes homemade apple sauce that morning that is hot and mmmmmm.

She also makes a choco-pecan pie. Hot, topped with a scoop of ice cream.
