TCF Hold 'Em Tourney

Unread postby peeker643 » Tue Jul 29, 2008 2:15 pm

Saturday, September 20th at Weber Avenue Facility (aka Lead Pipe's Garage).

2nd Annual Weber Cup Event (Yours Truly will be defending his title)

NL Hold 'em tourney. 2pm start.

The Weber Avenue "garage" hosts Wickliffe's longest running Thursday Night Hold 'Em league and is home to the area's hottest action and most player-friendly amenities. Voted Facility of the Year two years running, Weber Ave caters to the discerning player by providing:

The area's finest tables
Professionally run leagues, tournaments and cash games
Tournament Director(tm) Time & Blinds Software
Sirius Satellite Radio
Professional quality sound system
Complimentary poker magazines
Cable Television
Climate Controlled Luxury
Wi-Fi internet access
Wall-mounted hand sanitizer
The Weber Avenue Prize Vault
The Weber Avenue Wall of fame

$2k chips, blinds start at 10/20 and go up nominally every 21 minutes (don't ask). Plenty of play with chip stacks and blinds.

10/20
15/30
20/40
25/50
50/100
75/150
100/200
Etc.
Etc.

Buy in- $35 + $5 (which gets you beer, water, pop, pizza, various pretzel/chips/etc).

Seating available for 24. 10 are in already.

Cash games after (there will be a minimal rake of $1 or so per pot if there is a deficit for food/bevergages but after the food/beer is paid for it's rake-free poker).

Cash games will begin when enough tournament players are eliminated to start one. Typically 1/2nl and 1/2 limit with kill. If people want to play higher we can accomodate that request.

Cheap, inexpensive and enjoyable. No one gets hurt too bad at these tournies and cash games.

Dealers are provided so you can sit back, relax, have a few beers and play some cards.

You might also be privy to a few of Lead's afternoon/evening college football picks which could pay for the tournament, cash game losses and gas used to get there.

PM me if you are definitely in.

Will this be the only time you will be playing? I'm going to be in Cleveland(Avon area, if you are familiar with that) the weekend after labor day. Shame I'll miss out, I could go for a good poker game. Sounds like you all should have an excellent turnout.

I'll have to keep this date in mind. I'll have to check out a work schedule and what's going on around that time when I get back to school.

Try to keep a seat open for me Peek, and I'll try to let you know no less than 10-14 days beforehand.

Sad news on this front. Postponed til October when we can find a date that works for the founder of TCF and a few more TCF members.

Updates will be posted.

I'd suggest October 18. The only notable games are OSU-MSU (notable for us only), Oklahoma-Kansas, and Texas-Missouri. Seems like we wouldn't miss a lot that day playing cards.

The best game that week outside of Texas-Missouri is on Thursday and that's BYU-TCU.

The 11th is my birthday, doubtful that I'll make that one.

The 25th has a slew of gems. Illinois-Wiscy, LSU-Georgia, Texas Tech-Kansas, Oregon-Arizona St., Penn St.-Ohio St.

Not sure. Piper's cocking around with the dates.

Clearly, the problem is using Pipe's house. What's a matter? The missus won't let a bunch of angry drunken fools play at your house?

Or your garage?

Oh no. She allows us that opportunity pretty much all the time. Swerb and Pipe are just too busy for us. I don't have the time or energy to devote to finding a date that works for those guys. And to be honest, I'm just not as into the game enough to care.

Peeker is playing adult indoor soccer and cannot be bothered with such foolishness. :nanner:
"It's all about winning for me, and I think the Cavs are committed to doing that," he said. "But at the same time I've given myself options to this point, and like I said before, me and my team, we have a game plan that we're going to execute, and we'll see what we get."

Patently false. But at this point I'd probably rather play indoor soccer than cards. The thrill is gone. And I'd probably rather get kicked in the stones repeatedly rather than play soccer.

Well, it is something to do and there's less aggravation than at the poker table. These things are indisputable.

Understandable, but regardless of personal physical appearance, there's always the opportunity to have a big pair at the card table.

Apparently that "Lead Pipe and Swerb will need to reschedule the event" thing went right past ya huh? I'm done with any scheduling attempts. I don't really care to play anymore. I certainly ain't trying to put something together again.

November 28th is the date. That's the day after Thanksgiving. It'll be at at the Weber Ave facility where we can accomodate up to 24 players.

$35 + $5(pizza, beer, pop, water). We'll rake the cash games afterward to make up any difference in costs. All of that $35 per player is paid out plus a nice trophy to commemorate the event.

If you're in I need to know via PM as soon as possible.

NL Hold'em tourney. Very good blind structure that allows for plenty of play (2k in chips w/20 min blinds starting at 10/20, 15/30, 20/40, 25/50 and upward).
Already have at least 10 so get in while you can.

We are set for this event. 6pm start at the Weber Ave garage this Friday.

Pm me for an address if you need it.

Two tables, $35 + $5 (for the food and beer). Cash games afterward if you're feeling it. We'll rake a $1 or so per pot to make up for any cot of food and beer not covered by the $5 then we stop when we hit the number on the receipts. No house profit on that.
Beer, Pizza, water, pop, pretzels, potato chips, etc already on hand. You want something other than that you should bring it.

Looks like we'll be paying out of column 3 (21-30 players) from http://www.homepokertourney.com table. That'll mean:
1st- 40%
2nd- 25%
3rd- 20%
4th- 10%
5th- 5% (usually buy-in back)

Don't ignore the fact that the winner will have their name emblazoned forever of the third most prestigious trophy in all of sport, right behind the Stanley and the Lombardi.

Also, first player out and the player who knocks out the current holder of the Weber Cup select from the Weber Avenue prize vault.

Nothing to sneeze at.

Right up until some pudthumper who doesn't know pot odds from odd pot runs me down with some shit hand. Then I'll not be playing.

Hey, I'm the defending champion of that event. Someone's name goes under mine. Maybe mine.

Can anyone play in this? I'm going to be home for Thanksgiving and was going to head to Mountaineer on Friday but would rather drive two hours.

I can check and see if there are any cancellations/openings and then post it here when I know Pacman.

Honestly, you're better off going to Mountaineer and sitting in the 1-2 NL 75min-300max cash game. Plop down with 200-250 and you'll be up over 5 in no time. Much better chance at making some money than in the tourney. So many fish up at Mountaineer that it's pathetic.

I'll be heading there just after Christmas for a day or two. Pound out an 8-10 hour session and head back.

So Peeker,

Aside from myself, who else do you see in the Top 5 in this event? :)

ASPDawgpound's name forever memorialized on the Weber Cup.

Nice 2nd place cash for you too Adam. Well done. Good having you and Anthony in the garage.

That sounds like a gay bar.

Anyway, yeah, we had a great time. Thanks for passing along an invitation.
