I like Mentor in D1, Mayfield in D2 and Ursuline D5..........................even at D5 they may be the best overall team in the state. I hope the Hornets can pull off an upset but I wouldn't bet on it. If Kirtland can some how manage to win against Ursuline................. they win the state, and it would be the most cinderella type year of any team in NE Ohio. One thing I will say about the Hornets, they are friggen HUGE.

I have heard mixed reactions to Mayfield. Have heard they aren't as good as last year and their schedule was a bit down. That said, they certainly have talent and could come out of that region, after that though I can't see how they get past Louisville/DeSales, let alone whom they would face in the Finals.

I could be wrong though, Dozen what has been your assessment of them this year compared to last?

Hey guys...Ursuline really had to work LATE in the game to pull away from HTS. They are actually looking like their big schedule is wearing them down. They might be ripe for Gilmour's picking. Next week should be fun.

Ursuline didn't get on the board until the last few minutes of the 2nd quarter when they returned a punt for a score. HTS drove down with their first possession and scored easily it seemed.

One other note..the BIG guys for the Irish aren't exactly what you'd call athletes...more like plugs. They are still a tough team and still the team to beat in D-5....FOR NOW......

The team really prides itself on defense, yes it's cliche but that shit works when a team performs at a level and the results support it. 28 straight scoreless qtr's at any level will make you buy into defense wins games.

Ricky Finotti deserves a ton of recognition and respect as he is the master behind probably the top defense in the area this year! They have to keep it charged up for 4 more weeks!
