Great week 7 boys!

Not to be too critical but there are some things on your rankings that makes you shake your head. I was surprised to see Kirtland who is having a great year ranked where they were. Mooney loses to Mentor but is ranked ahead of them and Mentor loses to Ignatius but is ranked ahead of them. Ignatius is ranked 12th? Also, Euclid has no business being ranked in the Top 12 because Cleveland Heights is not that good of a football team.

Kirtland may be d5, i get all that. But after tonights 56-6 ass whoopin they are now 8-0. Jeck, I've had the oppurtunity to see them all season. My son was in camp with those kids and man they have size. A very, very good football team. They do the little things and don't beat themselves. At the end of the day rankings dont really mean alot from local websites/news ect. But it is nice to see a local D5 team getting some love. You want a real absurd rank, check out fox 8's. I mean Iggy over Glennville?

THE 'VILLE GOT THAT WIN VS IGGY AND HELD ON TO THE TOP SPOT, BUT THAT WILL COME TO PASS BY WEEK 11. BACK TO "OUR" LIST...IT'S ABOUT FOOTBALL NOT HYPE. URSULINE, FOR EXAMPLE, COULD WIPE THE STATE IN ANY DIVISION RIGHT NOW ...YES I THINK THEY WOULD PUT A HURTIN' ON GLENVILLE AND IGGY TOO.

KIRTLAND DESERVES WHERE THEY ARE BECAUSE OF HOW THEY PLAY AS A "TEAM" WITH A TON OF "HEART" AND REGARDLESS OF BEING SCOFFED AT FOR BEING TRAPPED IN THE CVC VALLEY...THEY WOULD GLADLY STEP UP AND TAKE ON ANY TEAM COME PLAYOFF TIME. THEY APPRECIATE THE GAME!

8-0 is 8-0 but Kirtland is a D5 team. Of course, so is Ursuline and they might be the best team in the state.

agree d1, and I applaud the fact you recognize those kids. Look, I took my son from a d1 program to a d5 BECAUSE THEY TEACH FOOTBALL!. Not some bullshit spread south tries to run or gimmick shit. Not a program where daddy makes a donation to keep his kid the QB.

Again, look at the topic title, "Not yout typical rankings....". I cannot dispute your takes at all. But it's refreshing to see those kids at a very small school getting some recognition. We all know they can't hang with teams like Mentor, Glennville ect, but at the same time they do deserve some credit. They are basicly a smaller version of Mentor in regards to the same system being run from 7u-HS. I give guys like yourself a ton of credit for the job you do over in Mentor. If it wasn't for coaches like you the High school wouldn't have the success theve had over the past few years.

Brian, thanks for the kind words on the coaching and the world title. I look forward to seeing a KIrtland in the playoffs and I hope they beat Ursuline. Yes, you are right they do deserve credit, a lot of credit for what they have accomplished this season and hopefully more. You know the guy running Kirtland is a Mount Union guy (cue Lubber). I'm not saying they shouldn't be on your list and I also think Mayfield is a tough as they come. Their defense is unbelievable. Also, there are so many more deserving guys for the HOF other than me (Peeker/Pipes) but thanks for the props!

Here's something y'all on the outside looking in need to recognize.

If the freaking Ignatuis - Ed's chess teams were playing in a closet with no one watching, neither would save a damn thing and both would scratch and claw to the finish. Maybe a handful of other schools in the state can understand the intensity of a rivalry like this. You may THINK you have a blood rivalry like this, but if you aren't at the Massillon - McKinley / Ed's - Ignatius level, I'm going to suggest maybe you can't quite imagine what it is really like. Indiana vs Purdue is not Ohio State v Michigan.

And after 2 blow outs, I'm gonna say that some folks' accountability took a small hit.

And what's with the man-love for the JCU coaching staff, other than I'm sure they learned alot from Larry Kehres's staff?

Don;t forget, Chico is a JCU grad as well, as are several Asst. for Iggy's. Many local high school staffs are filled with JCU and MUC grads.

Iggy's was definitely the better team this year. Ed's will close the gap the next two years as their Soph and Jr. classes are very talented.

Chico has had an affiliation w/ JCU since Lindon Johnson was President.

JCU hasn't really accomplished anything on the field. So I dtill don't understand the love. You must be an alum? Which is cool, but I can't figure out any other angle. Obvious MUC is the most dynastic college program on an level ever.

Absolutely correct Ed's should get better, but we'll show up next year as well. Next QB may be better than Holland.

I thionk capital and ONU may have a bone to pick with you, but no questions CWRU has done a nice job in the egg head conference and done it the right way. Facilities are good things.

But other than Don Shula, I'm not ready to buy into the JCU as cradle of coaches thing. But I do respect an alum representing! Propers.

I think a lot of good coaches come these D3 schools. Look at Jason Hall at Massillon and Mike Elder at Avon. Both have won everywhere they have been and both went to Mount. There are a few Mount grads that head coaches in college: Mike Hallet at Hedleberg, Dean Paul at Ohio Northern, and Eric Raeburn at now at Wabash College after being at Coe (IA) for 8 years.

Got to hope that drop doesn't happen. Otherwise Ignatius, McKinley and other schools can't have fun derailing the Tiger playoff runs and introducing reality into their dream setup.
