I had every intention of heading to the grocery store this evening... really, I did. What happened? I turned on playoff baseball and ordered a pie.
Which leads me to my question... how much do you tip?
$2? $3? 15%? 20%?
Let the debate begin. Answer quickly though, they'll be here in 20 minutes!
I don't think I'm ever more "aware" than I am right after I hit my thumb with a hammer.

Usually about $3. They claim that they don't get any part of the delivery charge, but I think that's bullshit. Most places give them so much for gas as well if they use their own car.

Honestly, I can not remember the last time I had a pizza delivered. I always go pick it up, we live close enough that it is not out of the way for me to get it myself.

Usually $3-$4, depending on the size of the order and how quick it gets there.

Our order is usually about $12-13 so I'll give them $15 and say "keep the change".

I'm very picky with tipping in these spots. The company usually plays a big part in it for me. For IE: I've heard numerous times that Pizza Hut doesn't take care of their drivers well so I usually give them a bit more than a competitor driver.
Also if the drivers is a grown man or women that looks to be in their mid 30's or older (especially 50+) I try to give more. Sounds age discriminatory but I always feel bad for them assuming they got stuck in a very tough spot to be delivering to begin with, odds are pretty slim they grew up with aspirations of being a pizza delivery driver.

Not sure what it's like down there General, but up here, In God's country, 95% of the delivery people are male.
Careful what you hope for down there. Lotta big, burly ex-cons may fall back on that type of job when released.

$3
Weber Ave Poker tips $10 on the 3 delivered sheet pizzas though. That's how the big boys roll down there.

Yeah, "buy low, sell high."
Delivery guy didn't make the food or actually wait on me. It's like tipping the cashier at Wendy's or a barkeep when all you ask for is a draught pour AFAIC. There's no value added service here.
That said, I'll go with about $ 2 as a gesture, but that's all. never 15% or 20%.

Hate to be the one to break this to you Einstein but $2 is 20% of your average $10 (medium) pizza.
Now, you're going to come back at me with a technicality that you only eat larges right, of which I have no doubt that you do.
Just here to help.

I'm all about loading on the toppings. Jacks the price up. Nice zing though.
You know, I raely get delivery since I moved to Y-town. The local za that isn't delivered is worth the drive, and I don't smoke weed.

If they get to my house in the time the said they would on the phone then I give a good tip. If they are more than 20 minutes late I usually just let them keep the change (and I mean, give me my dollar bills back, you can keep the coin). I'm the same at the restaurant though, I tip well for good service. I tip lower than "expected" for average to bad service.

"I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them something a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job."
