The 12th ranked Univ of Akron will appear on Big 10 Network Sunday when they take on Indiana at 2:00 pm. The team could be on the network two more times as the Zips take on Penn State in October before closing out the regular season against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Zips won the regular season and tournament championships last year, one of five Akron teams to bring home MAC hardware. And hoping to improve on their first round loss in the NCAA.

Zips player Ossie Micalsen was one of a select few chosen by the NCAA to write a weekly blog on their website.

Plans were also released of renovations to Lee Jackson Field, making it one of the premier D1 facilities in the country.

And they open the season by knocking off #3 Notre Dame 3-0. Gonna be an exciting year.

Sweet, definitely will catch that Sunday afternoon.

Sure would be nice if the so-called "reporters" at the PD actually covered this sport.

We have one of the premier training academies in the US in Northeast Ohio, just had a championship won by a Cleveland team, have had several youth national championships won by clubs in the area, the Zips are nationally ranked...but the good old PD can't be bothered to cover the sport.

it's a shame.
