MLB Pick 30 - PHASE THREE

Unread postby swerb » Tue Aug 05, 2008 2:42 pm

Alright fellas, time for Phase III.

Lead Pipe wins Phase I with a 21-9 record. Was dominant fron start to finish, and fended off a late rally from waborat and Bill Henry. At $20 a player, 17 entrants, Lead Pipe took down $340.

Lead Pipe also won Phase II with a 23-7 record. 24 entrants, $30 a pop ... the Lead Man took down another $720. Was a great battle between him and Carolina Tribe down to the bitter end?

Can anyone beat this guy?

Heres the details for Phase III ...

Starts Monday, Aug 11th. Ends Sunday, Sept 28, which is the end of the regular season. 49 days long.

Pick one baseball team each night to simply win their game. You cannot pick the same team twice. And have to select all 30 teams in baseball one time.

Contest lasts for 49 days. So seeing as how you need to pick every team in baseball one time and one time only, there will be 19 days you don't pick a game. Use those PASS days wisely when there is no strong selection amonst the teams you have left to use. All picks must be time stamped no later than the official start time of the game per MLB.com or else the pick is thrown out.

The winner is the person with the most total wins after the Sept 28 games end. Each entrant will have picked exactly 30 games, each team in baseball one time, over a 49 day period.

$30 per player, winner take all. If we get more than 20 people, I will entertain breaking off a prize for second. The tiebreaker, once we get there, and if we need it ... will be to pick the winners of every baseball game on the last day of the contest, Sunday, Sept 28.

I'll throw in the following as well for the winner. Any two of the following goodies from the Swerb Grab Bag ...

~TCF coffee mug
~TCF t-shirt
~B-List '06: The Book
~B-List '07: The Book
~Tony's Top Prospects Book
~Two adult admission passes to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame

Let me know, in this thread, if you're in. Like with Phases I & II, all picks will be posted in here. I will update the standings daily, and give weekly updates on who everyone has left to use.

New to the board when it comes to posting, but I had been watching Carolina Tribe's status in the last phase. Pretty entertaining to track, so I figure I'll give it a go this time around, if not for anything other than family bragging rights. I know he sent the money via Paypal last time around, so just let me know what email address to forward it to and I will do so.

I think everyone in this pool should buy at least 2 squares.
I know a few people have, who's next????

My Marous Brothers softball team recently qualified to play in the world tournamnet in Kankakee, Illinois on September 12-14.
To help pay for the cost of getting there and for hotel rooms we are holding 2 seperate fund raisers.

#1
Browns season opener(September 7th) squares.
$10 each
Payouts are:
1st quarter $125
Half time $200
3rd quarter $125
Final score $250

#2
Ohio State season opener(August 30th) squares
$10 each also and same payouts as above.

Let me know if you're interested and thanks to everyone in advance.

I can be pm'ed on here or emailed at ScottSwerbinsky@GMail.com

Man...I'm gonna go broke!

TCF Golf, TCF Fantasy Football, TCF Pick MLB. Another $75 fantasy league. Going to Kalahari/Put-In-Bay tomorrow for the weekend. NYC to bid farewell to Yankee Stadium Sept 12 vs. TB. Trying to get down to C-Bus Sept 5 to see Brian Regan standup comedy.

If you're at the golf outing in 2 weeks, I'll find you and do it then. Or give it to Rich (I'm assuming since you're both Serbinsky's, you're probably related  ).

Swerb, as far as the money...do you want to wait the cash at the Little Mountain? I can PayPal if need be, but if you aren't in a rush, I'll just pay cash in 2 weeks.
